We’ve reviewed some products from Focusvape in the past, like the portable dab rig the Focus V Carta. The Focus V Aero is a portable vaporizer for dry herbs that offers dual chambers and is a true convection device. The Aero from Focusvape is a mid-range priced unit that has a bit of an unusual look to it but makes up for it with some other solid features.

If you are new to the wonderful world of portable vaporizers for dry herbs, head on over to our Vaporizer Buyers Guide for all the information you need.

  • True Convection Portable Vaporizer
  • Built-In Stirring Tool
  • Haptic Feedback

How to Use the Focus V Aero?

The Aero from Focusvape isn’t hard to use but might confuse a few consumers that are used to hybrid or conduction vapes. Pure convection heating means that the Focus V Aero requires long draws to get good rips. Once you understand this, it’s pretty easy to use. It heats up in about 40 seconds.

To use, just pop off the mouthpiece and load your herbs into the chamber under the flame icon. If you want to pack both chambers, you can rotate the Aero to decide which chamber the heat goes and vaporizer 1 chamber at a time. Press the button three times to turn on the device and use the temperature buttons to reach your desired temperature. We recommend grinding your herbs to a medium grind and packing them down lightly for the best vaping experience with the Aero.

What are the Focus V Aero Temperature Settings?

The Aero portable vaporizer uses precision controls and has a pretty wide temperature range from 80-240°C/176-464°F. The high settings can be used with concentrates, but if you are interested more in vaping waxes and oils, you’ll want to get a device dedicated to concentrates like the Utillian 5. We recommend staying right around 180-195°C/356-383°F for the best possible vaping experience with the Focus V Aero.

Focus V Aero Heating System and Chamber Size

The Aero is a true convection vape. It has two chambers made from stainless steel, which is a real rarity in today’s vaporizer market. You can pack about .2 grams into each of the chambers and if both chambers are packed nicely you can fit close to half a gram. This is a nice option if you are vaping on the go or vaping socially with friends.

The vapor path is also stainless steel and its core is ceramic. The vapor path is completely isolated from the electronics, which is a great feature. You can also adjust the airflow at the bottom of the device, which we appreciated.

Focus V Aero Vapor Quality

The Aero is a true convection vaporizer in every sense of the word. The vapor quality is good, definitely above average. It’s not the best you can buy, but it gets the job done with very minimal draw resistance.

The Aero is definitely not a device to sip on or use for micro-dosing. You will need to take large draws and inhale for at least 10 seconds to get a good rip. But as long as you draw in for a little while you will get some pretty thick clouds. Since the mouthpiece is a bit small, rips can be on the hotter side if you’re taking long draws. It’s nothing that will burn your mouth at all, but the draws can get a bit hot towards the end of a session.

How long does the Focus V Aero battery last?

The Focus V Aero has an internal 21700, 4,700mAh battery. It lasts a full 50 minutes on a single charge, which translates to about 6-8 full sessions. The device charges up in about 2-3 hours using standard USB charging. If you want a portable vaporizer with a longer battery life, check out the Arizer Air Max

Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality

The Aero has a solid build with a stainless steel shell. The built-in stirring tool is a nice addition, and it fits most water pipe attachments fairly easily. The mouthpiece is made from zirconia. The OLED digital display is easy to read and well designed.

With that in mind, it’s not the most attractive vaporizer available right now. Even though it fits decently in your hand, the build is a bit on the bulky side and seems a little awkward. A device like the Zeus Arc GTS Hub is much more attractive looking, we think.

Portability and Discreetness

The Aero is not that portable, measuring in at 4.75″ x 1.6″. It will easily fit in most bags, but pants with smaller pockets will bulge a bit. We recommend consuming cannabis at home with the Focus V Aero. Since you need to inhale for a while to get a good rip, most of the clouds are thicker than with other devices. Couple the thick, noticeable clouds with the slight bulkiness of the Aero makes this unit not that discreet. A highly portable and discreet vape would be something like the Utillian 620.

What’s in the Focus V Aero kit?

The Aero comes with some great accessories like a packing funnel, glass chamber rings, and cleaning tools. You obviously also get the charger, mouthpiece and user’s manual. The accessories kit is pretty good for a reasonably priced unit, and also comes with a respectable 1-year warranty.

How to Clean the Focus V Aero?

The Aero is pretty easy to keep clean, you just have to worry about the chambers and mouthpiece. The mouthpiece comes apart in two places and should be soaked in isopropyl alcohol every two or three sessions. An alcohol-dipped Q-Tip should be taken to the chambers as well. If you want to make your life easier, check out these vaporizer cleaning sticks from Tools420 and you’ll never need to dip your cotton swabs in alcohol again.

Bottom Line

The good parts about the Aero are that it is a pure convection device, which means big clouds and pretty tasty vapor. It also features stainless steel chambers, a solid build and an average battery life.

The not so good parts about it are that the design is bulky, you need to take long inhales, it is not very portable and hits can be on the hotter side towards the end of a session. The Aero from Focusvapes is similar to the popular Arizer Solo 2 because of its build and size.
