How to use the Pulsar APX V2?

This unit from Pulsar vaporizers is simple to use, just remove the mouthpiece and load up your dry herbs. For best vaporization make sure to pack the chamber but don’t pack it too tight as it can restrict the airflow. Then, just press the button five times, adjust the desired temperature and wait about 30 seconds for it to heat up. Haptic feedback alerts you when the APX is ready for a rip.

Pulsar APX V2 Temperature Settings

The APX from Pulsar vaporizer heats up in 30 seconds, which is about average. It has 5 preset temperatures that range from 180°C to 220°C (356°F to 428°C). The temperatures increase by ten degrees with every preset, which is pretty good for a budget vaporizer like the APX V2.

Pulsar APX V2 Heating System and Chamber

The APX uses conduction heating. It has a ceramic heating chamber and a steel screen. This unit fits about 0.35 grams of dry herbs, which is a pretty nice size for this unit. You will want to grind your dry herbs down pretty fine with this vaporizer because loading big buds in the chamber will decrease the airflow. The vapor production is low already, so you want to maximize it as much as possible.

Pulsar APX V2 Vapor Quality

The vapor quality on the lower settings is okay, not the greatest which is fine if you have a sensitive throat and you can really taste the terpenes if you’re into that. However, the cloud production on the fourth and fifth settings 210-220°C (410-428°F) of the APX is pretty impressive, but can feel harsh to some people. Play around with the different temperatures to find your happy place. If you think that might be an issue for you a device like the Utillian 421 costs a little bit more but offers much better vapor quality and minimal harshness.

Pulsar APX V2 Battery Life

For how affordable the Pulsar APX is, the 1600 mAh lithium battery is solid for a Cannabis Vaporizer. Depending on the temperature settings most consumers can get up to 45 mins to 1 hour of total battery life out of this unit. It takes about an hour and a half to fully charge using the USB attachment plugged into the wall. The APX isn’t a vaporizer for regular users or medical users that need to vape for long periods as the battery life is limited for that kind of use. The APX is meant for casual users who are looking to have a few puffs here and there and won’t be using this vape everyday.

Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality

The Pulsar vaporizer comes with either a metallic finish or a rubberized one, depending on which model you pick. The red LED displays the battery life which red means drained and green means full of charge and the blue LEDs display the temperature setting. The silicone mouthpiece could be better, but if you clean it regularly it should last you a long time. The build quality is pretty solid in comparison to some other vapes we’ve seen. It probably won’t break when you drop it once or twice.

When deciding what your APX dry herb vaporizer will look like, you definitely have some variety. The APX comes in 7 different colors. You can pick a solid silver, blue, or black if you like to keep things simple. Or, if you prefer, you can choose one of four unique designs like wood grain, skulls, organic chemistry schematics, or tie-dye graphics. We think the chemistry compound design looks the coolest, but you pick the one you like the best.

We think the similarly priced Arizer Solo 2 dry herb portable vaporizer looks and feels a little bit better than the Pulsar APX V2.

Manufacturing Quality

Is the Pulsar APX portable?

The APX V2 is compact at only 4 inches tall, so it will fit in just about anyone’s hand. Most of the models are also discreet, with the exception of the ones with flashier graphics that might garner some unwanted attention. However, the APX vaporizer is easily palmed and concealed, so this really isn’t even much of an issue.

What’s in the Pulsar APX V2 kit?

The APX V2 comes with the unit itself, a handy brush for use with cleaning purposes, a tool that lets you stir your dry herb in the chamber, and one replacement mouthpiece. We recommend stirring the chamber after every few puffs to extract the most out of your dry herb.

You can purchase additional mouthpieces if need be for your APX vape. However, most vape enthusiasts tend to just buy a new unit because needing new mouthpieces often is an indication of a lot of vaping.

How to Clean the Pulsar APX V2?

The mouthpiece comes off pretty easy and the included brush cleans out the chamber pretty good. You will want to give the this portable vaporizer a good cleaning using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Do this after every two or three sessions to make sure that you get rid of bacteria on the mouthpiece. Try to clean out the chamber when it is still warm because doing it this way will help you remove the most buildup.

If you want to order some handy cleaning sticks that are pre-dipped in isopropyl alcohol, check out these cleaning sticks. With these sticks, you will never need to dip your cotton swabs in alcohol again, which helps avoid spills.

Bottom Line

For the price, this vaporizer is very easy to use and is decently made. The heating chamber can pack a solid amount of dry herb. It is very discreet and features haptic feedback. However, if you are looking for a device that is priced similarly but offers better vapor quality, check out the Utillian 420 or the XMAX V3 Pro Review.
