Finally moving away from their 510 Thread Battery origins, vape manufacturer Tronian has finally released their first Portable Weed Vaporizer to the market.

Featuring a ton of features for a budget device, we are excited to give you a glimpse into how the Tronian Milatron Dry Herb Vaporizer performs, as well as how it stacks up to similarly priced competition – Let’s get into it!

Hybrid Heating System

This feature-rich budget vaporizer uses hybrid convection heating to cook your ground flower. This means that it uses a combination of conduction and convection to cook your ground flowers quite evenly and efficiently for a budget device.

The anodized aluminum bowl isn’t the biggest, coming in at 0.22g, but it uses a funneled design to make chamber loading a breeze. Plus, as we’ll discuss later, the oven is compatible with dosing capsules.

Consistent Vapor Quality

While I would have preferred a ceramic lining of the oven or stainless steel instead of aluminum for a better flavor, the extraction on the Milatron is quite good. I’m not going to lie, when I first examined the oven and ceramic mouthpiece insert, I was not impressed in the slightest and wasn’t expecting such good results.

The vapor quality is surprisingly decent thanks to the consistency of the hybrid oven. 

Especially regarding the airflow, I was quite impressed by how little resistance there was which is why I like the idea of temperature stepping with this unit in particular. By this, I mean beginning at a low temperature and gradually climbing to keep the vapor pumping out the same as at the beginning of your session.

While Tronian recommended I use a light pack, I had my best results with a tight pack, just like I do on the similarly designed G Pen Elite 2.

Just like the XMAX V3 Pro though, you won’t be able to get the best flavor, as it’s more focused on having a powerful oven above everything else for its super low price point.

Airflow ports on the Milatron

If I had one complaint about the vapor quality though, it’s that the airflow ports on the bottom of the vape have a small whistle when you inhale because of how much air they take in.

Tips and Tricks

When you’re holding the Milatron, you might accidentally cover the air ports on the bottom with your pinky finger, so it’s better to have all fingers around the body of the vape.

• From our personal testing experience, heavier users might enjoy cranking the temperature higher than they do on other devices to get a decent vapor output.

When you do this, you might clear the bowl in under five minutes, and you’ll know your bowl is spent when you notice a decline in taste.

Amazing Portability

The Milatron’s design might be on the smaller side, but it has some nice weight to it which will allow it to sink into pockets well and feel great in the hand.

• Overall, I’d recommend picking up a Tools420 Vape Case so that you can keep a spare flower and a pick tool with yourself, or by sticking to only dosing capsules with the Tools420 Storage Keychain.

What I like a lot is the compatibility with the XMAX V3 Pro Dry Herb Pod and the XMAX V3 Pro Wax Cup, which will let you swap out the bowl and not have to worry about flowers clogging the screen while on the run.

Solid Battery Life

The Milatron’s 2300mAh battery is enough to keep the party going for around an hour of runtime. It’s not an amazing stat, but not the worst, especially considering the USB-C charging and effectiveness of the oven.

• There is also an auto-off session timer after five minutes, but by that time you’ll have mostly cleared your bowl anyways.

Surprising Build Quality

I was quite impressed with the build quality of the Milatron apart from the aluminum oven.

It feels great in the hand thanks to a solid exterior that also uses a vegan leather exterior. Instead of a helix as a cooling airpath, the Milatron uses more of a condensing airpath which adds turbulence to the vapor to help cool it down, similar to how the DynaVaps work. One thing I do agree with Tronian within their product description is that I wouldn’t be afraid to drop this unit as it seems almost bulletproof.

However, I do have some suggestions I’d like to see happen on this unit which would make it more competitive in the market. Mainly, different style mouthpieces you use with the threaded design.

This in my mind would make it that much more competitive with the V3 Pro.

By this, I mean I’d like to see a WPA, bubbler stem, or glass mouthpiece using the same threading of the standard mouthpiece, just like how the Crafty / Mighty bubblers work.

Comparable Devices

The most comparable would be the XMAX V3 Pro Vaporizer because of their similar form factor, as well as price point. Surprisingly enough, the Milatron feels like the more solid device in the hand though thanks to the better OLED screen and added weight.

Unless you’re specifically looking for an on-demand heating mode or additional accessories, the Milatron might be the better budget-friendly and portable option.

The G Pen Dash would be another option if you’re looking for a no-nonsense portable vape, as all you’ll have to do with the Dash is turn it on and select one of three pre-set temperatures from its super portable design.

How to Use the Milatron?

One of the most attractive features of the Tronian Milatron is just how easy it is to use.

• Once you turn on the Milatron with five clicks of the power button, it will automatically begin heating
• The unit will helpfully vibrate when you turn it on, as well as when you turn it off to eliminate most of the guesswork for yourself

This is a great vaporizer for temperature stepping to get the most efficient extraction possible. The five-minute session timer will automatically start when you turn it on, and you can utilize temperature stepping by going up 10C / 15F from your starting temperature every minute or so to keep cloud output at its maximum.

Loading is super easy because of the funneled chamber design which helps to prevent spilling. Once your chamber is filled just above the aluminum bowl, you can press it down with your pinky for a better roast and as well to not clog the metal filter screen.

After your session timer goes off, or you’ve personally thought your bowl is spent when it is no longer producing vapor, you’ll be able to slap the bottom of the Milatron to have your weed cake come out without issue.

If your weed does stick, you can use the included pick tool to remove any debris, or you could use the 420 Debowler to help you save your decarbed weed for edibles.

Maintenance Tips

One thing I did notice is that the metal filter screen tends to dirty faster than other models, but luckily, Tronian included two spare filter screens which you can slide in and out of the rubber gasket quite easily.

An efficient way to clean these would be to wait until all three Tronian Milatron Screens are dirty before soaking them in isopropyl alcohol for 10-15 minutes and a gentle scrub on any leftover residue. For the most part, though, you’ll be able to do all of your Milatron’s maintenance with a simple vape cleaning stick.

Within the mouthpiece are some additional cooling inserts similar to the XMAX V3 Pro. These can be accessed by removing the rubber gasket where the metal filter screen is, and then popping the ceramic tip off the top.

When it comes time for a thorough cleaning of these smaller parts, a quick wipe with a vape cleaning wipe will be enough to get the job done but if you do get substantial buildup, you can also choose to soak the ceramic insert in iso with your filter screens.

Who’s it best for?

This is almost the perfect device for a first-time Cannabis Vape owner as it’ll do everything you need in one of the easiest-to-use devices on the market.

My only knock would be the twisting mouthpiece which might be hard for those with motor impairments to take off. For beginners looking for an easy-to-use vaporizer with some surprisingly good manufacturing quality, the Milatron is a great option!

I didn’t have many expectations for it, as there are already a lot of budget options, but it truly stood out with its solid build quality and consistent sessions.

With nice touches like USB-C charging, easy airflow, and dosing capsule compatibility, there are a lot of reasons for beginners, or connoisseurs looking for a backup device alike, to enjoy it. While it obviously can’t compete with the best portable dry herb vaporizers, it packs a nice punch and has earned a solid salute from me 🫡.
