Focus V Carta OG Video Review
Is the Focus V Carta OG worth it?
The Focus V Carta OG is an Electric Dab Rig that supports dry herbs with an additional add-on atomizer.
An electronic dab rig removes the potential danger of torches, and there is no hassle with timers or temperature guns, just solid vapor. It’s priced less than its closest competitor, the Puffco Peak.
However, it is still a bit pricey for a newbie just looking to enter vaporizing. Is the Focus V Carta OG worth the money, and is it an upgrade over normal dab nails? What about its vapor and build quality, ease of use, portability, and accessories? Keep reading our Focus V Carta OG review and get the full scoop.

What’s in the Focus V Carta OG kit?
In addition to the Focus V Carta OG vape itself, you get a borosilicate carb cap, a USB-C charger, 2 18350 batteries, a chamber for your favorite wax, a cleaning kit, and two buckets – one made from quartz and one made from titanium. Just like its competitor the Puffco Peak, the OG dab rig also comes with a carrying case.
Focus V will give you a 1-month warranty on the atomizer. If your atomizer ever needs repairing, the Focus manufacturers sell a repair kit themselves that is affordable, and they have also produced a high-quality video detailing exactly how to repair your atomizer should it ever need it.
Focus V Carta OG Temperature Settings
There are 4 preset temperatures with the Focus V Carta OG – 260, 332, 410, and 450 degrees Celsius. The device heats up in under 15 seconds regardless of what temperature setting or bowl you are using, and under 10 seconds with the lowest temperature. That is some pretty fast heat-up time and definitely outshines its competitor the Puffco Peak in that regard. We found that the best heat setting to use the Carta OG vape rig is the middle two settings. The low setting gives clouds that we felt were a bit too wispy, and the highest getting produced unnecessarily thick clouds. We recommend putting your dab tool all the way down to the bottom of the bowl rather than the sides, as doing this will melt the concentrates more evenly and efficiently.
How does the Focus Carta OG Chamber Work?
The Carta OG comes with two quality bowls, one made of titanium and one made of quartz. The Carta OG Atomizer features a unique design known as reverse threading, which makes it impossible to overtighten.
We were surprised to find out that the titanium bowl actually seemed to produce better flavor than the quartz bowl with our concentrate rips because this usually isn’t the case with most vaporizers.

Vapor Quality
The vapor quality of the Focus V Carta OG is outstanding, especially when you’re vaping concentrates. We noticed minimal flavor degradation in each rip for each concentrate vape session. A traditional dab rig with a torch or an eNail will hit harder than the Focus V Carta OG, but the vapor clouds were plenty thick for our liking. If you are a dabber who likes lung-busting rips, an electric dab rig probably isn’t your cup of tea. However, the Focus V Carta OG seems to produce perfectly fine dab rips for most owners. If you are using the Carta OG with dry herbs, you’re going to want to give it a good stir in between hits, in order to spread out your material evenly and ensure the best possible hit.
One hit cycle will be the best way to optimize your vapor quality, as you might notice some black flakes with your dry herb after the 3rd heat cycle. This isn’t combusting the herb, but it is coming a bit too close for our liking, especially on the highest temperature setting – so this is something to be aware of when you’re just unboxing the Focus V Carta OG and trying it for the first time. While the dual functionality of the OG vape is great, you’ll want to pick a dedicated dry herb vape if that’s your primary and preferred way to vape.
How to use the Focus V Carta OG?
The OG isn’t hard to use, but the various components might take a bit to understand for newer vape users. A single-button operation is a good call, though. Click the button five times to turn it on, which is a standard function in with vaporizers. The 4 LED lights will indicate the battery life you are currently working with and then put the unit in standby mode. Once you select your temperature by clicking once, the Carta OG will automatically begin heating. Haptic feedback lets you know it’s ready to rip, as well as the lights turning solid green.
You can download the V Carta’s Mobile App for iOS or android phones and have the ability to change your temperature settings and customize your V Carta to your liking.
Focus Carta OG Battery Life
The OG Vape comes with 2 18350 batteries that are 1200mAh. Most consumers tend to get about 40 hits off a single charge. The device comes with a USB-C cable and chargers up quickly in about an hour. While there certainly are batteries that are stronger than 18350, the great part is that they are replaceable with the OG vape, and any batteries will work. The batteries are replaceable, which is a nice touch, and an option that isn’t available with the Puffco Peak – even though the Peak might offer a longer battery life. The fact that the 18350 batteries are replaceable makes it a great portable dab rig to take on hikes or weekend trips where you can dab openly.
Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality
Even though the Focus V Carta OG is made mostly of plastic and glass, it doesn’t feel cheap or fragile and it does have some decent weight to it. The style and glass part of the Puffco Peak is a bit better than the OG vape, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should shell out the significant difference in price to get the Peak over the OG. There are all-white and all-black color options available for the different versions of the Focus V, but the OG currently comes in a two-tone white and black. The auto shut off feature was a nice touch and is something that isn’t available with the Puffco Peak.
- One other nice thing is now that the glass is cross-compatible the classic and Carta 2 in the Focus V Carta Glass Bubbler
Is the Focus V Carta OG portable?
The discreteness of the Focus V Carta OG is not exceptional, because it is, of course, a portable dab rig, or a portable desktop rig. With portable dab rigs like the OG vape, you obviously won’t be fooling anyone as to what you’re doing when dabbing with it. However, it is compact enough to carry with you when you go places where you dab openly. This especially true with the included carrying case, which makes it pretty portable for an e dab device.
Not too shabby!
How to clean the Focus V Carta OG?
After every dab you do, just take a Q-Tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol and give it a good swirl around the atomizer. Like most Focus vapes, the OG vape rig’s atomizers are pretty durable, so don’t worry about feeling like you need to be too gentle with the cleaning aspect of it. Get in there as well as you can and swirl the Q-Tip around to make sure you get the freshest hits with each session.
Check out our handy Tools420 Cleaning Sticks and remove the need to dip your Q-Tips in alcohol. After every two sessions or so, take apart the atomizers and the other parts and give them a good swipe as well. We recommend drying your e rig out in front of a fan after cleaning and before packing up another one because inhaling any kind of alcohol residue can be quite dangerous.
Summary
With the Focus V Carta OG electronic dab rig, you get a fast heat-up time, consistently high vapor quality and production, and a significantly lower cost than its competitor, the Puffco Peak. The Peak looks noticeably sexier, and more like a premium product. Owners of the Peak probably won’t feel the need to run out and by the Carta OG portable desktop vape and own both – but you are still getting a solid bang for your buck if you go with the OG. Getting rid of the white and black, two-tone finish for the OG vape, and going with a solid black finish instead would make it look more attractive, in our opinion.
The Focus vape brand is open source, and they encourage the use of accessories from 3rd parties with their dab rigs. This is a compliment to the Focus vapes, and more than a lot of other manufacturers can say for themselves.
Final Thoughts
Just like its competitors the Puffco Peak and the Dr. Dabber Switch 2, a vape rig like the Carta OG is much more accessible for most people and removes the hassle of a torch, or a timer, or an e-Nail.
There really is no clear-cut winner when we honestly compared the Focus Carta to the Puffco Peak, just that the Peak feels more like a premium device and the OG delivers comparable quality rips at a much more affordable price. It all depends on what the dab rig enthusiast is going for – Personally I think the Carta Classic is still a good Cannabis Vaporizer if you don’t mine the learning curve.

Contact customer support in Los Angeles. the company was taken over by a new master distributor and I had the same problem and I sent them the emails and the shipping information when I sent back the power Bass. they contacted me three weeks ago and sent me a brand new unit and a box with all the accessories and I’m very happy and it works real good.
Hi,
I purchase the carta v 2 here on Nov 29/2019. Worked great for a week and then it broke, (would not heat up) contacted focus straight away and now i am still waiting for them (Feb.6/2020 today). No phone # to call and only one email , support@focusv.com. Which no one is answering!
A+++++ shipping and customer support dope product almost hits too hard 4 me lol.
It was a tough choice between the Puffco Peak vs Focusvape Carta but from what I read on Reddit people seem to think the Carta is a lot better and I would have to say myself is a pretty good little vape. I really dig the removable batteries and I bought myself 2 extra ones in case I run out while having sessions with friends. It actually has pretty good battery life anyways and I haven’t ran into any problems with it just yet.
I already have two dry herb vaporizers (the Mighty and Pax 2 vapes) and wanted something that does wax a lot better than those 2. Wow what a complete world of difference, the Mighty is a good vape but IMO sucks in comparison to the Focusvape Carta when it comes to hitting wax. If you’re on the fence but have money I would say go for it, you won’t be disappointed at all and it hits like a champ!
Had a hard time cleaning my focusvape carta but the support team here helped me figure it out easy. I actually found that using smaller dabs tyo work better than large but on high temperature this thing can take fat globs pretty well. I still prefer my torch n banger sometimes but for convenience sake its much easier!
FAT GLOBS man idk why I been messing with torch and banger for yuears this thing is just so ez and way better wud highly recommend if u got the dough 2 spend on 1.
I consider myself a dab enthusiast and have a few glass pieces, Puffco Peak, Dr. Dabber Switch and a few wax pens. I would certainly say the Focusvape Carts is THE best e-rig out of them all overall. It doesn’t hit quite as hard with the flavor of my quartz torch and banger setup but it comes really close and my friends don’t really notice a difference anyways.
I wanted to do dabs but was scared of the blowtorch and glass options o I wanted a good e-rig instead. I asked on reddit and people told me to get the Focusvape Carta and I would say it’s a terrific little device! I got the old model before the company got taken over (apparently) and it has been nothing but wonderful for me!
Bought one for me and one for my girlfdriend (got her the magna carta which is so gorgeous) and now were a dab couple. Bad thing is that dabs get ur tolerance super super high so I only recommend doing it once in a while because I swear when u smoke after you won’t really feel much!
My first experience with the Focusv Carta was as bit tragic as I bought one, the atomizer was broken, and I ordered a new one direct from Focusvape and theirs was broken so I messaged the people on this website here and they helped me out which was really nice. Now I’ve finally got it working I can say I’m nothing but impressed and happy with it. It hits really hard and does just the trick.
