Should you buy the Toqi 510?

The Toqi 510 Vaporizer is proudly designed in Toronto by tech company Twenty2b and was intended to revolutionize 510-thread batteries.

Mainly focusing on integrating Qi wireless charging and USB-C fast charging into the Toqi, the result is one very versatile vape.

With manufacturing quality based on integrity, the attention to detail on the Toqi has gained a good reputation since its release in 2020. In a shifting vaporizer battery landscape, has the Toqi done enough to truly stand out in the market given its higher price tag?

Read on as we go over the 510 Toqi’s key features, pros & cons, as well as how to use it. Let’s get into it!

WHAT IS IN THE TOQI 510 BOX

510-Thread Voltage Control

Using a 510 thread instead of a magnetic adapter, you’ll be able to use any threaded vape cartridges with the variable voltage settings of:

  1. 2.6V (Cyan/Light Blue) Low
  2. 3.2V (Blue) Medium
  3. 3.6V (Purple) High

For you vape techies out there, Toqi suggests using TH2 and M6T cartridges for the best performance. If you’re new to vaping cannabis cartridges, do yourself a favor and only buy them from legal and certified vendors. You’ll be screwing your selected cartridge into the thread just above the logo and if done correctly, will flash green twice on the device. Vice versa, the vape will flash red twice when you unscrew your cart. The nice thing about not being draw-activated is that you can pre-heat your oil by pressing the power button down. Sometimes on very viscous cartridges, draw activation can be totally ineffective, so having the option to heat before inhaling is a nice feature.

Toqi 510 Battery Vapor Quality

As I’m used to draw-activated 510 thread batteries with a voltage output of 3.8V on average, I was a bit skeptical about the lower voltages on the Toqi. I was wrong though! I started with the medium temperature of 3.2V and was surprised at how hard-hitting it was while still keeping good flavor out of my berry cartridge. I tried the high temperature 3.6 voltage setting just a few times but found that it was too harsh for my preferences. I mainly used the cyan 2.6V mode which was able to pump out flavorful clouds and allowed me to inhale for longer. High-tolerance users that don’t mind the heat will most likely be sticking to purple voltage, though.

Toqi 510 Portability

The Toqi is a bit on the bigger side for a 510-thread battery but remains very portable thanks to its super slim design. Without the cart, the specs come out to 98mm x 30mm x 10.45mm and only 35 grams. The only real downside is that unlike some of the more portable options that have a submerged design, the cartridge is screwed into the very top of the vape. If discreetness is what you’re looking for, the Toqi might not be the best option even though its design is super sleek, especially in the white color. For example, I wouldn’t recommend the Toqi to someone looking to take hits hiding their 510 battery hidden in their palm while at work, as you can do with the CCell Silo.

Wax Compatible 510 Battery

With the sold separately Toqi 510 Wax Cartridge, you’ll be able to vaporize a small amount of concentrate when you feel like switching it up from your normal cartridges. The wax cartridge screws into the 510-slot a uses a single quartz coil which is powerful enough to vaporize your favorite low-temperature concentrates. It’s plastic-free and has unsuspecting quality airflow thanks to four air slots at the bottom of the thread. With the integrated dab tool on the wax cartridge, you can preload your dabs by using the scoop on the mouthpiece and then screwing it back onto the atomizer.

When you’re screwing the mouthpiece back on, make sure you don’t press too hard like I did at first or it won’t screw back on easily. The only other vape pen on the market with similar cross-compatibility would be the G Pen Micro +, which is primarily made for dabs & of course the Toqi won’t be as powerful as an E-Rig, but it still does a great job.

Toqi 510 400mAh Battery Life

The TOQi 510 Vaporizer features a 400 mAh lithium-ion battery. Usage varies relative to the frequency of use and the weather conditions of where you live, but on average you’ll be able to get around 200 hits which will be good enough for more than a day’s use for very heavy users. While some 510s have larger batteries, they’ll take longer to charge, so your vaping uptime will be about the same as the Toqi. The USB-C charging port can be found on the bottom of the vape and can have your device fully charged in as little as 40 minutes. The lights will turn from solid green to flashing when it has reached a full charge. The first 85% of the charge only takes 25 minutes if you’re in a rush, though!

To check your battery percentage, click the power button twice and it will flash its lights three times:

  • Green = 80% – 100%
  • Yellow = 20% – 80%
  • Red = 20% – 0%  / Time for a recharge

510 Toqi cartridge holder

Excuse me as I faint at just how beautiful the one-piece aluminum cartridge holder is! It eliminates the need for something like a vape carrying case because you can keep up to six cartridges upright, out of the sunlight, and clean. I’d go as far as saying that it’s a must-buy for 510 cartridge enthusiasts, especially if you’re into using your own refillable 510 carts!

Toqi wireless charging Pad

To charge with the wireless charger, place the hollowed lights section of the Toqi over the middle of the pad where the logo is while your cartridge is removed. It can be used while the wireless charger is plugged in, or charge it separately until you see a green light. As a bonus, the Toqi wireless charger is very thin and can be used to charge any Qi-compatible devices such as modern apple phones. If plugged in, it can charge two devices at once and uses a lithium-ion polymer circuit protection that has overcharge protection. The charger is a bit slower than the normal 40-minute charging but is a great accessory to bring with yourself on the go while you’re traveling.

Manufacturing Quality

Out of every box that I opened, it was clear that the Toqi has much better manufacturing quality than almost all the other 510 batteries I’ve reviewed. It feels great in the hand and the light strip is a nice touch to help display information to the user. For those looking for a 510 with a bit more customization and charging options than another 510 brand, then the Toqi might be right up your alleyway.

How does the Toqi compare to other 510 batteries?

One of the nice things about the Toqi is the multiple voltage settings.

While some people prefer draw-activated magnetic adapters, I tend to lose them and always opt for a threaded design. While the 400mAh isn’t best-in-class for battery life, it’s more than enough to get the job done. Compared to some thinner designs, the metal tips of the battery are surprisingly durable as I dropped the Toqi four feet onto the pavement with nothing but a small scratch to show for it. A Vape Pen Battery is going to be way easier to fit into your pocket, though.

How to Clean the Toqi 510?

The main maintenance you’ll have to mind is trying to keep your cart out of the sunlight, as well as keeping your mouthpiece free from grime. In this case, a quick wipe down with a vape cleaning wipe will do the trick just fine. If you get dirt into the USB-C port, you can gently blow or brush it out.

Warranty

Excluding misuse by the owner, Toqi provides a one-year manufacturer’s warranty from the date of purchase on the device.

Final Thoughts

It has a superior design that outshines most competitors. While most of the upgrades are cosmetic, Toqi has simply put so much more effort and thought into their charging, ease of use, aesthetics, and accessories – Something the 510 thread batteries are really lacking in! I can see the 510 Toqi taking over the market in the next coming years!

Toqi are true competitors that are pushing the boundaries of the what it means to be a Weed Vaporizer. It’s finally something that’s attractive to look at and gives the users some different options about how they want to use their 510.
