Two powerhouse portable vapes with big potential within, we compare the Boundless Tera to the Mighty vaporizer in a head-to-head showdown. We’ll go over vapor quality, reliability, build quality, and more in this review, so stay tuned!

How easy are they to use?

Neither of them are exactly rocket science, however, the Boundless Tera takes a little more work to get going. The Tera being more sensitive to pack and grind type and being full convection gives less consistent performance than the Mighty.

The Mighty is a master of making do with anything. Load it however you like (within reason) and it’ll pour out clouds of vapor in no time.

Beyond that, they both have a great user experience, with the Tera being marginally better to clean. The Mighty’s fool-proof vapor production however makes it easier for us to use and the fact it accepts dosing capsules gives it the win in this category.

Boundless Tera Vs Mighty How to Use

How long do the batteries last?

A category which the Tera wins over almost any other vape out there – batteries!

The Mighty has great battery life at ~10 bowls per charge, however, it uses a proprietary DC charger and doesn’t have removable cells.

The Tera uses a set of 2 removable 18650 batteries and uses a standard Micro-USB to top off. While we’d recommend using a dedicated 18650 charger to recharge your cells, the fact it has removable batteries is a big deal.

Have a couple of spare cells on hand and ran out of battery? Simply pop them in and you’re good to go again. With 6000mAh from 2 batteries, you can expect 10+ sessions per charge, which is very good.

From those facts alone, it’s easy to see why the Tera comes out with the win in this section,

Mighty vs Tera Bowl Size & Heating Systems

The Mighty opts for a bowl that holds up to 0.35 grams at its maximum, with a regular load size of 0.25-0.3 grams, and a respectable 0.125 grams when using the ever convenient dosing capsules.

With the benefit of a powerful hybrid heating element that has properties of both conductive and convective heat, the Mighty has an excellent heater which is hard to beat.

The Tera has a similar capacity of ~0.25-0.3 grams and can even use the same dosing capsules as the Mighty! The big differentiator here is that the Tera uses a convection heater – and boy is it powerful.

Off these facts alone we can’t award a winner just yet, so we’ll get into the vapor quality of the two.

How are the Vapor Qualities?

Glad you asked! They’re both terrific, but quite different.

The Tera with its pure convection heater takes a little bit to get going. Meaning that the first few draws usually don’t produce much in the way of vapour. After the first few hits though it extracts very nicely and gives great vapour.

With that in mind, the vapor is pretty hot-harsh at mid-high temperatures, especially if you like to take powerful rips. That’s just the nature of a pure convection heater.

The flavour is great, especially when using the glass mouthpiece or rigging up an Arizer stem to use with it. The Tera is a complete behemoth if you throw the water pipe adaptor (WPA) on it and run it through a 14mm bubbler. Huge, flavorful, and dense hits.

The Mighty is no slouch, and in fact one of our favorites still. From hit one, it’s smooth, dense, and well flavorful. The cooling unit does a terrific job at conditioning the vapor before it reaches your mouth and truthfully is nicer to experience than the Tera.

Mated with a bubbler the Mighty still does great, but can’t quite keep up with the Tera. Hit dry though, the Mighty definitely takes the cake.

It’s hard to award a winner in this category, however, we give it to the Mighty still. It’s just so hard to beat!

Boundless Tera Vs Mighty Vapor Quality

How Portable and Discreet are the Mighty and Tera?

Neither one of these two units are particularly puny or portable. Sure, you can toss them in your bag or fill your pocket up with them, but there are other units that fill that role much better.

The Tera being quite chunky is not very nice in the pocket. The Mighty being scaled so large also makes it unideal for any long period of time.

They’re definitely portable and can be thrown in a bag without hesitation, but I’d reconsider if you’re looking for a portable vape to bring to the pub, bar, cafe, and club.

In terms of discretion, none are particularly good or bad. The Tera appears more like a regular e-juice vape and the Mighty like a Walkie-Talkie. At least they’re all-black, but I wouldn’t use either of these if discretion is particularly sought after.

Boundless Tera Vs Mighty Portability

Mighty vs Tera Manufacturer reputation and dependability

Storz & Bickel are practically legends with the build quality of their units – from the Volcano Classic to the Mighty, each unit they’ve put out has strict quality control and while failures do occur, they’re few and far between.

Their warrant and service are excellent and the Germany-based giants are definitely one to put your trust into.

Boundless is well-known in the scene and has a fairly good reputation. There have been issues in the past with reliability and servicing, particularly with older models of the Tera.

With that in mind, they’re still a great company and we don’t hear of Tera’s or other Boundless units failing often.

In terms of the units themselves, the Mighty is certainly better made. For the price it better – the plastic is of nicer quality, the engineering more complex, and the whole design is more thought out.

The Tera is great but the plastic and rubber on it doesn’t scream ‘premium’ (not like the Mighty screams premium either).

Who these vapes are suited for

Tera – The bong goblin. Do you like your water piece as much as we do? If so, you would not be crossed by the Tera. That convection heater is a monster and can milk up your piece in no time and for quite a bit less money than the Mighty.

If you like to take your sessions with you on the go, however, we’d look into a different unit. It’s just a bit too chunky and beefy for true on the go usage

Mighty – The do-everything-vape. Going to the bike park? Cafe? Museums? Just make sure to set aside a 10-minute session outside and have a smell-proof case ready.

The Mighty is best suited to someone who wants a powerhouse that is occasionally portable but will likely do most sessions with friends, at home, or on a gentle walk – it’s just quite bulky as well.

Mighty vs Tera Conclusion

They’re both fantastic in different rights. The Tera is just a bong behemoth. Slap it onto your piece and away you go. You can take it out and about from time to time, but it benefits tremendously from cooling/water filtration.

The Mighty has excellent vapor quality and performance right out of the box. It’s durable, tough, and expensive. It’ll work non-stop and give terrific vapor regardless of how you load it (again, within reason).

Neither are particularly great in terms of portability and discretion, and we’d recommending hitting up our best portable & stealthy vaporizers list if you’re keen on finding something in that niche.

Undoubtedly, the Mighty is the better unit at the end of the day, but the Tera with the removable batteries and excellent vapor quality is still a good buy, even in 2020.
