We’ve reviewed several devices from the KandyPens brand in the past, like the KandyPens Prism Plus and the Elite, but these units were designed for vaping concentrates. The manufacturer first put out a flower vaporizer with the K-Vape, which received mixed reviews and little fanfare.
With the K-Vape Pro, KandyPens takes a second shot at producing a budget-friendly dry herb portable vaporizer. How does it perform, and is it worth your time? Let’s get into our KandyPens K-Vape Pro review it and find out!

How it Works and Ease of Use
The K-Vape Pro is as easy to use as just about any device out there. Just pack your herbs, hit the button five times and wait for it to heat up. To toggle through the different temperature settings, you hold down the power button. While this isn’t really groundbreaking, it is better than other devices in our opinion – because typically you need to press the power button. Holding it instead does make more sense.
To get the best possible experience when vaping flower with the K-Vape Pro, we recommend that you grind your herbs down finely and pack them into the chamber. Don’t pack it too tightly, because you will want to optimize airflow, as this device is lacking when it comes to vapor production.
KandyPens K-Vape Temperature Settings
There are four pre-set temperatures on the K-Vape Pro dry herb portable vaporizer. They are 177°C, 190°C, 204°C, and 220°C (350°F, 374°F, 400°F, and 428°F). The four temperatures are indicated by the lights on the front of the device, from low to high – yellow, green, red and blue. This color scheme doesn’t make a lot of sense to us. Why would the highest setting be blue? This isn’t a huge issue obviously but it is a bit of a head-scratcher.
The temperature settings on the K-Vape Pro budget vape aren’t anything special, but at least you have some options. We recommend vaping at 204°C/400°F because draws on the highest setting can feel rather harsh on your throat.
K-Vape Pro Heating System and Chamber
While the K-Vape Pro does technically use hybrid heating, it seems mostly like conduction to us. The herbs aren’t heated too unevenly, especially if you give the bowl a good stir halfway through a session. But true hybrid heating should have much smoother draws for an entire session, which the K-Vape Pro does not have.
The device has a ceramic heating chamber. KandyPens’ website claims that the K-Vape Pro can hold up to half a gram of dry flower, but we aren’t exactly sure that’s true. We got more like 0.3 grams in the chamber comfortably while still getting decent airflow. Packing it down any tighter than that will probably restrict your draws.
KandyPens K-Vape Vapor Quality
The vapor quality of the K-Vape Pro is noticeably below average. The flavor is not great, even with high-quality herbs and the glass mouthpiece. The draw resistance on the unit is pretty tight, hits can be hot and harsh on the throat after the first two or three inhales.
The vapor production is lacking as well. Even on the highest temperature setting and taking long draws, clouds are thin and wispy. The unit doesn’t come anywhere close to the flavor and cloud production of better units like the Flowermate Slick.
K-Vape Pro Battery Life
The 1100mAh battery on the K-Vape Pro won’t be winning any awards when it comes to battery life, but it’s not too bad. Most consumers get between 5 to 7 sessions on a full charge. It takes about an hour and a half to two hours to fully charge.
The battery is internal as well, which isn’t great, but at least the pass-through charging is a redeemable quality. If you are looking for a device with a bigger battery, consider investing a bit more and upgrading. A device like the Arizer Solo 2 almost doubles the battery life of the K-Vape Pro.
Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality
Just like its lackluster vapor quality and the battery life, the build and look on the K-Vape Pro is uninspiring as well. At least the anodized aluminum shell isn’t plastic, but it’s nothing special. The button feels a bit too sensitive, and we have a feeling that might not last too long, especially if the device is used a lot.
The mouthpiece is glass, which you would think improves the vapor and build quality. However, it doesn’t extend far enough to cool the vapor at all. Couple that with the short vapor path and you are looking at rips that are average at best. KandyPens dropped the ball when it comes to the design and build of the K-Pen Pro.
A budget vaporizer that is well made, looks better, has better vapor quality and uses a glass mouthpiece the right way is the Utillian 421.
Portability and Discreetness
The portability and discreetness is probably the best part of the K-Vape Pro, outside of its ease of use. It is only 4.75 inches tall and weighs only 2.75 ounces, so no one will have any trouble carrying it around.
It also looks like your typical nicotine vaporizer. So if you’re vaping weed with the K-Vape Pro while out and about, you probably won’t draw any attention to yourself.
KandyPens K-Vape Pro Accessories
The K-Vape Pro comes with two glass mouthpieces with screens inside, a cleaning brush, a USB charging cable, and an instruction manual. There is a lifetime warranty on the battery, but the KandyPens brand isn’t exactly well-known for honoring these warranties. It can be hit or miss.
How to Clean the K-Vape Pro
Cleaning the K-Vape Pro isn’t hard, but it can be a little bit tricky to make sure the mouthpiece is properly disassembled without losing the screen. Just be aware of this while cleaning, and preferably clean it on a solid surface that you won’t lose the screen.
Other than that, cleaning is simple – just use some cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl alcohol on the mouthpiece and chamber after every few sessions. Be sure to also brush out the chamber after every session to get rid of debris.
Check out these pre-packaged vaporizer cleaning sticks from Tools420 if you are tired of dipping your Q-Tips or cotton swabs in alcohol.
Bottom Line
The positives on the K-Vape pro are as follows: it is portable, lightweight and easy to use. Unfortunately, that is really all we can say. The device feels like it’s on the cheaper side, has below average vapor quality, an average battery and
Comparatively, budget portable vaporizers like the Utillian 421 and the Flowermate Slick cost about the same as the K-Vape Pro, perform better, are built better and last longer.
What do you think about our KandyPens K-Vape Pro review? If you’ve tried this device, were we accurate with our assessment of it?
I purchased a K pen from this comp last week. I was looking forward to vaping the delta 8 flower I purchased from a reputable vape shop. I couldn’t get any draw at all after following the directions. I contacted Kandy Pens about this and they gave me about 5 or six things to try. After trying everything I was asked to try, I still couldn’t get the faintest draw. I know this unit gives typically less vapor. But whatever I did I got no vapor. I told them it must be defective and to refund my money. They said that not there policy.so now I am out 100 bucks for a vaporizer that doesn’t work. Thanks Kandy pens you suck!
