Manufactured in Canada, the 421 by Utillian is a dry herb portable vaporizer that is an updated version of its sibling, the Utillian 420. The 421 boasts some notable upgrades over its predecessor including a larger battery, improved temperature settings, and better overall airflow. The 421 also retains a lot of the popular features that set its younger sibling apart from the competition, such as a glass mouthpiece for better flavor, a discreet feel and design, and a digital display. How to use the Utillian 421?
With the Utillian 421, the one-button operation is simple as there are only two commands.
- Tapping the power button five times to turn the unit on, and second, holding the power button to cycle through the six pre-set temperatures.
The device will automatically begin heating, so just make sure that you already have the chamber loaded. If you want to vape concentrates through your 421, you’ll also be able to pick up a Flowermate Liquid Pod to help keep the mess away from your chamber.
Improved Airflow
The Utillian 420 vaporizer was a unit that a lot of people loved, for good reason, like a glass mouthpiece and a ceramic chamber. Generally speaking, vaporizers that have glass mouthpieces tend to offer better flavor and smoother rips as well. The 420 came with a storage compartment at the bottom of the device, while the 421 now has an airflow valve instead. The airflow valve is a noticeable improvement in airflow and vapor production. The 420 had 4 preset temperatures, while the 421 now has 6 ranging from 180C-230C (356F-446F) in 10 degrees increments.
Consistent Sessions
The 421 will last you about an hour of continuous use on each charge, which is a solid battery life for its price point. The exterior of the device is made from anodized aluminum, making it respectively sturdy and different from other budget vaporizers that mostly use plastic exteriors. The Utillian 421 uses conduction heating and takes about 60 seconds to warm up and be ready for a toke. When you want to play around with how your 421 hits, all you’ll have to do is adjust the airflow dial on the bottom!

Returned my 420 vape and got the 421 instead and im glad I did its just better for sure. Idk what I was doing wrong but I just couldn’t get a hit from the 420 but the 421 hits each time pretty well and I get well lit. I got the Utillian 421 on sale so good price and I save a lot of weed from not smoking anymore.

So I grabbed the new 421 because I had the Utillian 420 befo0re and liked it but I dropped it so many times and figured it’s getting a little old. Utillian 421 vs 420 the 421 wins easy since the vape is waaay better, weed hits me harder and the airflow control I find to be useful to change how strong the hits are. Better temperature options and overall much a better unit. Definitely recommend it if you can find it at a good price.

1. Decent battery, lasts for about 4 sessions (+/- 45 mins)
2. Takes an hour to charge
3. Vapour clouds are decently thick in volume
4. Rips taste reeeally nice because of the glass mouthpiece, sometimes at lower temperatures, I can taste the flavours extracted from the terpenes present in my herb, which enhances my experience.
5. Sufficiently portable and somewhat discreet in public
6. Would have liked a vibration indicator that the device is now ready like in the Vapium Lite or Pulsar APX but rips taste and smell better here so I don’t mind the tradeoff
7. Easy to clean.

Hi Robert, sorry to hear about the problem you are having. There is a bit of a learning curve with the switch and the amount of clicks. It needs to be clicked 5 times in a period of 2-3 seconds. This is my fourth weed vaporizer and my third portable herb vape overall (I have 1 table top vaporizer too) and it has a certain place in my lineup. I use the Mighty for moving around the house and to be honest it has much, much better vapor quality than the 421, but not as portable. I also have a Dynavap which I think performs better but you can’t use it on the go since you need to torch it. It’s pretty decent and for the price not a bad choice.

It’s an alright vaporizer but I would definitely recommend saving a little more and spending for a better herb vape. It works just fine and I have no complaints with it really considering the cost but spending a little more gets you a lot more! I went with the Arizer Air 2 and really love that one!

I went to buy my Utillian 421 at my local headshop and then returned it to buy it here because the price was way better lol. Its my first weed vape and it works just fine. Not as good as expected. I called the store and got a few tips. If you like to smoke a certain amount of herb which does not fill the chamber, you need to put a regular metal pipe filter down inside against the herb to keep that herb against the sides to be heated. Otherwise, the herb flies around clogging the tiny wee filter instantly. The positioning of the air vent is stupid. It is exactly where you place your little finger to hold the appliance. The mouthpiece heats up a lot even with the rubber protection. I had a 721 and this works completely differently. I used the purple setting (190degrees) & tried 190 on the 421 but it needed more heat. The 421 is easier to clean than the 721 and the battery life is the same. I didnt realize they were so different in their heating system, but for the price, the 421 does the job once you work out the kinks.
