Is the Ditanium worth it?

The Ditanium Vaporizer is one of the most interesting desktop vaporizers on the market.

Made by Hardwood out of Arizona, it’s a 2-in-1 unit meaning you’ll be able to do concentrates and loose flower out of the same unit, and comes in a nifty and portable kit with an included whip and wooden exterior.

In this review, we’ll be giving you a full rundown of how it works so that you have a better understanding to see if this is the next desktop vaporizer / E-Rig to buy for yourself!

Ditanium Vaporizer Heating System

As a convection vaporizer, your vaporization coming from the heating element getting very hot.

The problem is that the heating element takes some time to get to adequate temperatures, and you’ll want to let your loose flower heat soak to get some added THC extraction.

That means for the nail loading your dab onto the nail which will then send vapor down through the mouthpiece. For dry herbs, the screened end of the glass attachment will get hot enough to produce vapor after a heat-up time of between 10 seconds and 10 minutes.

How to use the Ditanium vaporizer?

To understand the heat dial design that the Ditanium uses, think of how the Volcano Classic operates.

The more the dial is cranked, the hotter it will get.

As the temperature gets up to a maximum of 900 Fahrenheit, it means that each of the 12 dial notches will be close to an 80 Fahrenheit increment beginning from zero. As combustion of cannabis flower occurs at  450 Fahrenheit, you’re going to want to stay far away from the max temperature of the stunning 900° F (~480° C).

One of the downsides is that the manufacturer doesn’t include a carb cap in the kit which means that you’ll have to add it to your order for a few annoying extra bucks. This is because at lower temperatures with concentrates you’re going to lose some of your vapor.

As the nail uses a very small dugout design, you’ll want to place your dab right in the middle so that your vapor melts down towards the heating element and whip for you to properly inhale.

This is why you’ll want a carb cap – So that you can more easily place your dabs into the ring and then place the carb cap on for a more relaxed extraction unlike a one-hitter unless that’s what you prefer.

14mm Titanium Mouthpiece

As a plus, the titanium metal mouthpiece at the end of the silicone whip is an angled 14mm WPA which you’ll be able to run through something like a 14mm Globe Whip Bubbler for an added layer of vapor cooling before you inhale.

If you plan on doing two for one hits with a dab and dry herb on the glass chamber, this is going to be your best option, especially if you’re running it at a high temperature.

As I mentioned earlier in the review, it works best after a bit of a heat soak, and for the best kind of inhale try a slow inhale style of five seconds to really clear the whip in a powerful hit.

This isn’t going to be a vape that’s made for sharing or for prolonged sessions with a balloon or hookah style like on the Volcano Hybrid. As the glass and heating element are going to get extremely hot after a few minutes of heating up, you’re going to want to be careful if you have to move anything while it’s hot. For this reason, you’re going to want to have the whip system already on the vape before it’s on so that you don’t accidentally burn yourself.

Vapor Quality

The Ditanium works best in short bursts after you let your product road for a little bit to build up the vapor and terpenes in a nicely stored way in the chamber.

If you feel like getting knocked onto the floor, try a ten-minute heat soak of your dry herb before adding a dab to the nail and taking a hit that will seriously put you onto the ground.

Compatible with Dry Herb and Concentrates

Choose between the E-nail for your favorite kinds of dabs, or the dry herb glass chamber. If you’re a hardcore user, you might even choose to use both at the same time for a very potent inhale.

Arizer XQ2 vs Ditanium

Unless you’re really after a one-hitter style with a combination of concentrates on the banger and in the glass stem for a one-time huge hit and cloud, most people will find the XQ2 to be the better purchase.

You’ll be able to hit your loose flower in a much larger chamber that can fit over 1 gram into the glass chamber which sits atop a convection heating element.

From there you can choose to turn the fan on for easier hits through the whip or to fill balloon bags. If you do go the balloon route, you can choose to cap it once it’s filled, or also to use the 10mm mouthpiece as a bong adapter for use with your favorite 10mm bongs and bubblers. For well over half the price, the Arizer XQ2 is simply the better choice.

How to clean the Ditanium?

  • To clean the Ditanium, all you’re going to really need are vape cleaning sticks which you can use to clean out your nail, as well as any residue left over after knocking out your dry herb from the glass chamber.
  • For the rest of the vape, you can use a vape cleaning wipe to wipe down the rest of the body and titanium mouthpiece.

If you find that your silicone whip is starting to discolor and a hot water rinse isn’t doing the trick anymore, make sure to pick up a new one! Some Extreme Q Tubing will also work as a replacement whip.

Ditanium Pros

  • 2-in-1 compatibility
  • Sleek design
  • Easy maintenance
  • High-Quality 14mm titanium mouthpiece

Ditanium Cons

  • Glass and Nail can get quite hot and burn skin
  • Very small quartz dish
  • Steep learning curve
  • Expensive
  • No included carb cap
  • Four-minute heat-up time for good vapor quality

Warranty

Ditanium comes with a 2-year warranty that covers against defects on the heating element, but only 90 days for the LED light on the underside of the vape. There’s no coverage on the glass though, so try to be careful with the glass chamber, and let it cool down before you handle it.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a 2-for-1 desktop vaporizer that can provide you with a few supercharged hits to medicate you for the next few hours, then the Ditanium is for you. Most people will find the more relaxed balloon filling or hook style hits of the Arizer Extreme Q or Arizer XQ2 to be more relevant to their needs of just having a laid-back vaping experience at home.
