Introduction
After years of seeing customers frustrated with short-lived dab pens, I wanted to see if the new Focus V Aeris could truly offer a better experience. Built around the same Intelli-Core platform found in Focus V’s CARTA lineup, the Aeris is designed to deliver premium vapor quality in a much more compact, travel-ready form.
As part of the Tools420 review team, I’ve spent the past three months testing the Aeris with various concentrates to see how it holds up in real-world use. From cloud production and terp flavor to heat-up time and portability, I’ve looked at how this dab pen performs and where it could be improved.
In this review, I’ll walk you through everything I’ve learned. I’ll cover the Aeris’ key features, design, and performance with concentrates. I’ll also compare it to top alternatives like the Utillian 6 and Puffco Pivot, and share some useful tips to help you get the most out of your sessions.
If you’re looking for a reliable, flavor-rich dab pen that combines strong vapor quality with consistent performance in a compact body, the Focus V Aeris might be what you’re looking for.
For concentrate users who value precise temperature control, a swappable battery, and strong vapor from a portable device, there’s a good case to buy Focus V Aeris over a more basic dab pen.

Unboxing & First Impressions
The Focus V Aeris wax pen comes packed in a clean, premium-looking box that gives a great first impression right out of the gate. Inside you’ll find:
- The Focus V Aeris vaporizer unit
- USB-C charging cable
- Cleaning swabs
- Dab tool
- User manual

The included hard-shell carry case, shaped like a mini backpack, is both compact and protective. It easily slips into a sling bag or backpack, making it ideal for portability and on-the-go use.
The standard Aeris kit comes with everything you need to get started with dabbing right out of the box. However, for a cleaner and more efficient experience, I highly recommend picking up the Focus V Saber hot knife. It makes loading concentrates quick, mess-free, and much more precise.
What impressed me most right away was the build quality and overall design of the Aeris. The soft-touch silicone finish feels premium and comfortable in the hand, while the vortex-style grooves add a sleek, futuristic touch. Visually, it doesn’t resemble your typical dab pen.
How to Use the Focus V Aeris – Quick Start Guide
The Focus V Aeris dab pen is built for simplicity, featuring single-button operation that’s easy to pick up, even for beginners. That said, the LED strip interface may take a bit of getting used to at first. You’ll be clicking through temperature levels and session modes, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
Before your first session, make sure to fully charge the Aeris using the included USB-C cable. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get started:
- Remove the magnetic mouthpiece and load a small amount of wax into the chamber.
- Reattach the mouthpiece securely.
- Press the power button 5 times to turn the device on.
- Click the button once to cycle through temperature settings.
- Double-click the “V” button to start your session. The device will vibrate once it reaches temperature.
- Inhale from the mouthpiece and enjoy.
- To extend your session, double-click the button again when the session ends.
Pro Tip: Use the Focus V web app to customize your temperature settings, LED color themes, and session timers. Once your preferences are saved, you won’t need the app again unless you want to make changes.
These steps will help you get started right out of the box. For advanced features like precise temperature control and LED customization, the Focus V web app is a great bonus tool that lets you truly dial in your preferred session.
Smooth, Terpene-Rich Vapor Quality
This is where the Focus V Aeris vaporizer really stands out. Thanks to its 360° Intelli-Core ceramic chamber, the Aeris delivers consistently smooth, flavorful, and potent vapor. Whether you’re dabbing live resin, rosin, hash, or shatter, the Aeris maintains terpene integrity with no harshness or burning, just clean and tasty hits from start to finish.
The Focus V Aeris gives great flavor, similar to the Puffco Pivot, with rich terpene profiles. It’s better than the Utillian 6 when it comes to flavor. If you care about good taste and a smooth experience, the Aeris is a top pick in the dab pen category.
While it doesn’t have the same water filtration or full-size E-Rig format as the Focus V Carta Sport, the Aeris gets surprisingly close in vapor performance for something you can carry much more easily. After a few dabs, you’ll get smooth, satisfying vapor without the harshness or coughing that can come with smaller pens.

Intelli-Core 360° Ceramic Chamber
The Aeris uses Focus V’s Intelli-Core platform, which is also shared across the CARTA family. The chamber has a 360° heating design, with heating elements built into the bottom and sides to help distribute heat evenly. This helps keep the temperature stable and prevents your material from getting burned, giving you a smooth and efficient experience.
The Intelli-Core chamber heats more evenly than older flat-coil designs. It wastes less wax and is easy to maintain with a quick wipe using a vaporizer cleaning stick. It’s better than the Puffco Pivot, which heats primarily from the sides, and the Utillian 6, which heats from the bottom. With heat coming from multiple directions, there are fewer cold spots, helping your dab vaporize more evenly.
This chamber also has a larger capacity than most dab pens, allowing for both microdosing and full-session dabs without compromising vapor quality.
Like the Puffco Pivot, the Aeris brings multidirectional ceramic heating into a portable concentrate vaporizer rather than reserving that style of technology for full-size E-Rigs. If you’ve used devices like the Puffco Peak Pro 3DXL or Core 2.1, the heating style will feel familiar, but the compact size and easy controls make it stand out.
Clean Airflow
The Aeris comes with a modern carb-cap system integrated into the mouthpiece. This feature gives you control over how smooth or intense your hits are, depending on your preference.

Easy, Precise, and App-Controlled Temperature Control
The Aeris uses single-button operation to cycle through multiple preset temperatures, making it easy to use right out of the box. Once you learn the button combinations, it’s very intuitive.
With a temperature range of 365°F to 600°F / 180°C to 315.56°C, the five preset temperatures are indicated by different LED colors:
- 425°F / 218°C – Blue LED
- 450°F / 232°C – Yellow LED
- 475°F / 246°C – Green LED
- 500°F / 260°C – Purple LED
- 525°F / 273°C – Red LED
For more control, you can use the Focus V web app to adjust settings like:
- Precise temperatures
- Session duration
- LED colors
- Saving settings to the device
Once you save your preferences, the app isn’t needed anymore, giving both beginners and experienced users a customized vaping experience.

Removable Battery Pack & Quick Charging
One of the best features of the Aeris is its removable battery pack. You can keep a spare on hand and never worry about running out of power. The twist-to-lock battery compartment feels smooth and solid, which is much better than the tricky battery doors on some older dab pens.
That said, the battery life isn’t the strongest. It uses an 800mAh battery, which drains faster because of the powerful Intelli-Core 360° heating chamber. For comparison, the Utillian 6 has a 1500mAh battery that lasts longer. The Puffco Pivot is similar to the Aeris in battery life, delivering roughly 15 to 20 sessions per charge.
Charging is quick thanks to the USB-C port. You can also remove the entire battery base. The LED light on the back flashes while charging and stays solid when it’s full, usually taking up to two hours.
You can also check the battery level and adjust settings like RGB light colors using the Focus V app. Once you’ve got it set up, the app isn’t necessary unless you want to make changes later.
Build Quality and Design
The Focus V Aeris vape feels tough and well-made. Its hard shell makes it durable, while the soft silicone wrap gives it a nice grip and feels good in hand. The swirl-style lines on the body add a premium look and make it easier to hold during use.
The mouthpiece is magnetic and wrapped in the same silicone, but the good news is that none of the silicone touches the vapor path. That means no rubbery smell like you sometimes get with cheaper devices. If you’re not a fan of silicone at all, you might prefer something like the Tronian Gammatron, which uses a zirconia mouthpiece that helps keep flavor pure and stays cool.

Inside, there’s a black ceramic insert that helps cool the vapor surprisingly well for a dry device, with less throat harshness than some smaller pens. The insert is removable for cleaning, but it’s fitted pretty tightly. You’ll need to press the sides and slide it out carefully.
Portability & Discreetness
The Focus V Aeris shatter pen isn’t particularly large, but it’s not the smallest either. It can feel a bit bulky in a pocket and isn’t as discreet as slimmer options like the Utillian 6 or Puffco Pivot. So, it’s not the best choice if you want to be really low-key. But if you carry a bag or purse, it fits just fine and is easy to tuck away.
That said, the size is mainly because of the advanced technology inside, like the 360° heating chamber. While smaller devices like the Tronian Gammatron are easier to carry around, they don’t deliver the same vapor quality or power.
If you’re okay with trading a bit of portability for better performance, great flavor, and easier cleaning, the Aeris is one of the best wax pens out there right now.

App Control & Smart Features
The Aeris connects to your phone through a web-based Bluetooth app. It’s not the most stable app and it froze a few times during testing, but it gets the job done. I was able to:
- Set custom temperature ranges from 365°F to 600°F
- Adjust session time from 20 to 60 seconds
- Change LED color patterns
- Track my usage
I saved my favorite preset, 450°F / 232°C for 30 seconds, directly to the device, and now I can fire it up with two taps, with no app needed.
Tips for New Users
- Use the Focus V Saber hot knife: It makes loading clean and easy.
- Customize presets via the app: Set the temperature and session time to match your draw style.
- Start low and go slow: Lower temperatures give better flavor.
- Clean after each session: Swab the chamber with an ISO-dipped cotton swab while it’s still warm, but not hot.
- Get a Cloud Vortex: Increase your airflow and cloud output with this simple accessory.

Final Verdict: Worth the Hype?
If you’re serious about concentrates and want E-Rig-level performance, the Focus V Aeris is a clear winner. It’s not just a step up from dab pens; it’s in a different league. While it’s not perfect, it delivers on the important things: performance, flavor, and customization.
I’ve actually been reaching for it more than my Carta 2 lately, mainly because it’s quicker to set up, easier to carry, and still gives me excellent results. If you’re comparing it with Focus V’s previous-generation E-Rig, you can also read my Focus V Carta 2 review. For current shoppers, though, the Carta Sport is now the more relevant full-size Focus V alternative.
We currently have the Focus V Aeris for sale at Tools420, where you can check the latest price, availability, and any current deals. Focus V’s passion for quality shows in every hit, backed by solid customer service and a warranty you can count on.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely, especially for regular dabbers, terp chasers, or anyone tired of dab pens that don’t last. Compared with the Puffco Pivot, the Aeris offers a swappable battery and deeper app-based customization, while the Pivot has a smaller, simpler mobile design.
