Who should buy the Ispire Daab?

The Ispire Daab is here to bring you back to the simpler days – Days where you had a gigantic torch and a gigantic piece of shatter to melt onto the red-hot glass of your dab rig before a scalding inhale.

That’s right – The Daab name is accurate as Ispire, the creators of the Ispire Wand, have tried to create as close to a traditional dab rig experience on an electric dab rig as possible. There are a few differences of course, like the reclaim cup and a separate inner cup which we’ll explain in the review. With a wide temperature range of 250 to 800 Fahrenheit, there is a setting for everyone to love but does it get the job done? Read on as we go over the key features and what we thought of the vapor quality.

Ispire Daab Electric Heating

As an induction heated dab rig, the Ispire Daab varies from most other E-Rigs that will use an atomizer made from quartz or ceramic buckets which will then travel through air holes under the bubbler and then up through the glass mouthpiece. This means that you can rest at ease knowing that your vapor is only in contact with glass. The induction heated itself is a flat metal piece that the reclaim cup will sit above to protect it.

The heating element is heated by running a current which is resisted by the ferrous metal built into the inner cup. As it will only heat up when at least there is a reclaim cup, there is a certain level of safety that the Daab offers that is a welcome feature to the market. By reducing most of the possible burn areas and including several silicone sleeves on the glass pieces similar to the included Arizer XQ2‘s Rubber Tuff Grips for the glass bowl pieces, there is virtually zero chance of burning yourself despite the old-school design.

One of the main selling points Ispire is trying to really push across is the super clean vapor path. Although I’ve already explained that the vapor path is pure glass, another pro for the device is that since the inner cup banger is heated up through electromagnetic wave resistance, your dabs are going to remain 100% contaminant-free from anything like an open flame reside or metal oxides on a coil would have. The metal in the cup will also only be heated up when you have everything in place and double-tap the power button.

Ispire Daab Portability

Since the Ispire packs a lot of cooling and technology into its kit, it’s a little bigger than your normal unit. It comes in at 10 inches tall, 4 inches in length, and 2 inches across. As a plus though, it does weigh just over one pound. It will come in a cool suitcase-type of vape case that you’ll be able to re-use to transport your rig from place to place.

Can you use dry herb in the Daab?

With a super-wide temperature range, you’ll be able to vaporize any kind of concentrate you’d like. Since the design is funneled down into the induction heater in the inner cup, this is much better suited for dabs since the max effective capacity is only about 0.2g anyways and any herb you do try to vaporizer will just go up into the bubbler. If you’re looking for a different induction heated E-Rig that is capable of vaporizing loose flower and concentrates, you might consider checking out the Dr. Dabber Switch.

Vapor Quality

As we’ve gone over the isolated air path enough in this review, we’ll be focusing on the overall performance for this category. You’ll be able to fit between 0.1g to 0.3g of total dab into the inner cup that will vaporize effectively. I preferred to do a pre-load as it’s just easier than loading into a hot chamber. I would just keep the carb cap on so that none of the vapor escapes, and then take it off for a huge hit after I saw the clouds beginning to form. I never really waited for the light to change from flashing orange to solid orange for my temperature to be hit, as I never ran the unit at a high temperature since the clouds were big running around 550 Fahrenheit (288 Celsius) anyways. On this subject, the owner’s manual advises you to start at 450F until you get a hang of how the unit works to prevent yourself from getting vapor hotter than you can handle.

For hot starts, wait until your set temperature has been reached before placing your concentrate deep down in the inner cup with the included dab tool before capping the carb cap.

Again, this unit does have one of the cleanest vapor paths on the market. Better than the silicone on the Focus V Carta 2 for example As there is a reclaim bowl below the actual banger, you’ll have some residue buildup after heavy-duty sessions which you’ll be able to press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to clean this leftover material off.

Battery Life Review

Included with your Ispire Daab purchase are two 3000mAh swappable 18650 batteries with will run at 30A.  When you first get the device, you’ll want to open the battery lid and remove the plastic sheet insert for shipping safety. After, charge it up to full to get the most from the lithium-ion batteries in the future.

  • You’ll be able to get over an hour of runtime from your rig, and a full charge from dead will take about 2.5 hours from the port located below the power and arrow buttons.

With a USB-C charging port with pass-through capabilities, there is a lot to like about the tech Ispire decided to use!

How does the Ispire Daab compare to other E-Rigs?

Overall, the Ispire Wand measures up decently to other E-Rigs on the market. It doesn’t pump out massive clouds like the Focus V Carta 2 with a 360-degree heated atomizer, but it does have super dense vapor due to the condensing nature of the smaller chamber. It’s super cool seeing the milky vapor building up before your first inhale and the mouthpiece is a good style for what it is. In this sense, I would say it’s about on par with The Core, but is a bit more pricy due to the more advanced heating and more inclusive glass accessories.

How to use the Ispire Daab?

When your unit arrives, it won’t be assembled, but it’ll be super easy to do once you do it once.

Getting the bubbler working

  1. Fill your bubbler to the fill line through the mouthpiece
  2. First the reclaim cup, then the bubbler into its container
  3. Place the inner cup into the chamber of the bubbler, which you can then place the carb cap on top of if you want

Full assembly

  1. Place the reclaim cup into the induction heater hole
  2. Place the filled bubbler above the reclaim cup
  3. Place the inner cup into the bubbler
  4. Carb cap on top of the inner cup or nearby

Once you have the E-rig assembled, you can turn the device on by pressing the power button five times. Choose between Fahrenheit and Celsius by pressing the up and down arrows for one second, and adjust the beep noise setting by pressing the power and up arrows at the same time. Your inner cup will flash red to show you that it’s working, and then will be orange until it has reached your set temperature, which you will adjust with the up and down arrow buttons. The temperature range on the OLED screen can be set between 250-800 Fahrenheit.

With the auto heat mode, you will double click to continuously heat your inner cup your borosilicate cup until you turn it off. Once your temperature has been reached, the light will turn to solid orange. Personally, I prefer to always have the dab preloaded and heat afterward as you can just have the carb cap on and won’t waste or burn anything by placing it onto high heat. If your banger bowl isn’t completely on, the display will read ‘no load’, so just make sure that it’s settled down into the bubblers tray.

How to clean the Ispire Daab?

As a rule of thumb, it’ll be a good idea to wipe down the inner cup with a vape cleaning stick after every session.

If you do begin to notice some discoloration on your inner cup or reclaim bowl, you can pour a small amount of Orange Chronic into a container and shake the banger and reclaim bowl around for under a minute before a hot water rinse and everything should have melted off. You can do the same process with the bubbler by pouring a little Orange Chronic in through the mouthpiece, shaking, and then rinsing out with hot water.

Warranty

The Daab comes with a one-year Cannabis Vaporizer warranty that will cover against defects not caused by misuse or damage.

Ispire Daab Review Conclusion

In conclusion, this is one of the closest depictions to a traditional dab rig that has hit the E-rig market. With a pure glass vapor path and induction heating, you’re going to get a familiar feeling back to your torching days. While I personally would have preferred a set time of a pre-heat like 30 seconds, as it can be easy to forget that you have the heater on, it’s not a deal-breaker at all.

As well, I feel like the reclaim glass should have  just been incorporated into the bubbler itself as it just seems like a random piece of floating glass. Overall, I’d compare this unit to what DaVinci Vaporizers does with the dry herb vaporizer market, making normal performing units that are made with exceptionally high-quality materials. If you’re willing to spend the extra bit of money for quality, then this will be a good dab rig pick up for yourself.

Still, it doesn’t quite earn a spot on our list of the Best E-Rigs of 2023, but some people will really like it.
