Is the Boundless Tera V3 Worth it in 2023?
The Tera by Boundless Tech has been out for a few years and people like us have really gotten a feel for how it fits into the portable dry herb vaporizer market. As a convection vaporizer with a fast heat-up time, large chamber, and swappable mouthpieces, there is a lot to love at face value – But does the hype match up to the performance?
In this review, we’ll be going over how the Tera ranks nearly four years after its initial release. We’ll be going over its key features, how it works, and comparing it to more modern units to see if it still holds up. Let’s get into it.

Boundless Tera Convection Heating System
The Boundless Tera V3 uses pure convection heating to cook your cannabis. The chamber is made of stainless steel and can fit up to about 0.40g of dry herbs, which is pretty large for a portable vaporizer. We recommend grinding your dry herbs down relatively fine and packing the whole chamber, but not too far down to allow solid airflow. You can get decent micro-dose rips from the Boundless Tera, but we don’t recommend going too far below 0.1g as your vapor will be too wispy.
If you do like the Tera’s shape and UI, you might be interested in the AirVape Legacy Pro, which is superior to it in almost all categories.
Boundless Tera Precision Temperature Control
The Boundless Tera temp. controls are precision, and it features a wide temperature range of 60°C – 220°C when in dry herb mode – If you switch to concentrate mode, the Tera can reach a max temperature of 260°C. The side controls let you easily toggle through precision temperatures. You can click both side buttons at the same time to also swap between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The device heats up pretty quickly in under 45 seconds depending of course on your desired temperature, and it will vibrate to let you know when it’s ready. We’ve found that the best temperature to use the Boundless Tera seems to be around 200°C, as you’ll be able to get big clouds without losing much flavor.
Tera’s Vapor Quality
The vapor production on the Boundless Tera vape is some of the best on the market today. The highest temperatures will produce seriously thick vape clouds. The fully isolated air path in combination with the convection heating equates to the Tera having some of the best vapor quality on the market today. The glass mouthpiece doesn’t offer much as far as cooling down the vapor or making it any smoother, and using it is pretty uncomfortable. You can vape wax with the included stainless steel concentrate pads, but the flavor from concentrates is not the best.
Bubbler and Bong Ready
One of the greatest perks of the Tera V3 is the included water pipe adapter. This allows you to instantly hook up to any universal bubbler or bong to give you the benefit of water-cooled vapor. You’ll be able to vape at a higher temperature and take longer draws which will really get you blasted!
Boundless Tera Portability
In terms of discreetness, the Boundless Tera isn’t the best option. Although it will fit into larger pockets, it is fairly heavy and will rattle around. During sessions, it will produce quite a bit of vapor and it doesn’t feature a stealthy design like a Pax Plus for example. It’s close to one pound and the device is super boxy so it won’t fit into pockets very well. The magnet on the mouthpiece is a bit loose as well, so I’d just suggest picking up a Tools420 Vape Case or stick to just vaping at home.
Boundless Tera V3 Battery Life
At face value with two swappable 18650 batteries at 2500 mAh, we expected the Boundless Tera to have a pretty long battery life. However, most users tend to get between only 6-10 sessions, which comes out to about an hour of battery life. This is below average for the mid-range market, as the similarly priced Arizer Solo 2 will give you about 3 hours of continuous usage, and Zeus Arc GTS offers about an hour and a half.
The good part is that the Boundless Tera vape works with most other 18650 batteries, so if you already have some or have better 18650 batteries you can have a longer battery life, then you’ll have some extra spares that can be easily charged with a standard micro-USB. On the other hand, it is clear that Boundless focused on heating and vapor quality over pure battery life, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing due to the 18650’s being easily swappable. You can also bring down the ridiculous three-hour charge time via the USB port down to just over an hour by using an external battery charger, so we suggest picking one up from your local hardware store.
How to use the Boundless Tera?
Using this device is fairly straightforward, as is to be expected with most dry herb vapes. Let’s take a look at a sample session using the Boundless Tera vaporizer with dry herbs:
- Remove the magnetic lid & load up your dry herbs,
- Replace the lid, and then press the power button five times.
- Set your desired temperature, then hold down the button for about three seconds to begin the heating process.
- Haptic feedback will let you know it’s ready for a rip. You’ll want to take smooth, long draws with this convection device.
- Use long and slow draws for best results until the auto shut-off timer turns off the unit after five minutes, or until you press the power button five times again.
Dabs
If you’re a big concentrate user, the Tera may not be the best choice for you. As some of the convection heat is increased during a hit, slow and long draws are the way to go. To use the Boundless Tera V3 with concentrates, just turn the device on, and then press the button 3 times to enter concentrate mode. Insert the pad, load up your concentrate, and rip away. With the wax setting that will set the temperature to 500C, this does not seem to matter as the included wax mesh pad isn’t the best at absorbing oil. However, you’ll be able to use a Storz & Bickel Mighty Solid Concentrate Pad, which works well in the chamber. Overall, we’d just recommend a separate dab pen if you’re into concentrates.
Build Quality
The Boundless Tera has a durable aluminum build wrapped in rubber that feels quite hefty in the hand, almost like a hand-grenade! The OLED display is easy to read and is accurate as far as telling you the temperature at which you are vaping & all of the components connect magnetically and are built to last. With the dual lithium-ion batteries and excellent heating capabilities, the Tera has an overall solid manufacturing quality. One thing to know is that you shouldn’t get isopropyl alcohol on the rubber wrap, as it’s prone to literally peeling right off the unit!
How to Clean the Boundless Tera?
You will want to do a burn-off cycle before using the device after you unbox it. This will make sure there is no residue left over from manufacturing. To do this, simply turn concentrate mode on by turning the vape on and then pressing the power button three times. After you begin using the Tera, it is always best practice to knock debris out of the chamber to prevent any kind of residue buildup. About once a month, you may consider a thorough cleaning to keep the vape working its best. Begin this by removing the mouthpiece and all additional parts on it. Then, you can soak these parts in isopropyl alcohol for 10-30 minutes and finish off with a hot water rinse-off. For vaping connoisseurs, you may also consider using the concentrate nail to save all of the resin you can out of the plastic mouthpiece.
Our Tools420 cleaning sticks will also help you to keep it clean, and the Tools420 carrying case will keep it snug and protected while you’re on the go.
Who’s the Boundless Tera for?
The Boundless Tera is a unique high-end portable convection vaporizer that swings out of its weight class in terms of vapor quality. One of the key differences between this great device and another high-end convection, the Mighty+, is the vapor flavor. Although you’ll be able to get large clouds in the higher temperature range, it will lack taste due to the long and slow draw you’ll be required to do. This might be because of the raised temperature during a hit.
One of the good things about the Tera’s convection oven, however, is the fact that it won’t waste any of your herbs when not in use. Although there isn’t a way around the automatic shut-off timer of five minutes, your session will have an extended period of vapor production compared to the Mighty+. As well, the Mighty+/Crafty+ may have better initial vapor quality due to their dual-heating, but the THC extraction process occurs much more quickly with the Storz & Bickel vapes. The good thing is, you can just turn the Tera on again after the automatic shut-off to continue a prolonged session.
If you’re a connoisseur that prefers drawn-out and heavy-hitting sessions, then the Boundless Tera will be the best dry herb vaporizer for you. With a 0.4g bowl compared to the Mighty’s 0.25g, the Tera also wins in this aspect. Although you’ll get a choice of mouthpieces included in the kit, it’s best to stick to either the standard or the water pipe adapter for the best cooling. There are custom glass stem mods for sale on the internet that you can also pick up to boost the vapor quality and improve air flow with a better air intake space. If you love the Tera’s style of vaporizing but prefer rapid draws, you might also consider checking out the Arizer Air Max due to its superheating hybrid oven.
Boundless Tera Pros
- Awesome inclusive kit
- Easy to use
- Concentrate mode
- Bong vapor quality is next level
- Choice of three included mouthpieces
Boundless Tera Cons
- Annoying auto shutoff timer
- Rubber prone to peeling
- Extremely bulky design
- 3-hour charge time
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, the Boundless Tera is a super unique convection vaporizer that’s durable and built to last. You’re going to get super consistent vapor output and if you are the type of vaporizer user who loves thick, lung-busting clouds, then the Tera might be for you. Along with the device, you’ll get the water pipe adapter and will be able to use any style bong you already own right out of the box. Even if the batteries may not be the best in class, you can easily swap them out on the go to continue a session. The heat-up times are fast and the LED screen is a super nice addition to older models. Overall, two thumbs up from us.
