Mighty Plus vs Arizer Solo 2 Overview

The Arizer Solo 2 has long been hailed as one of the best dry herb vaporizers on the market since its release in March of 2017. With the recent late 2021 release of the Mighty Plus vaporizer, there are now comparisons being made as to how the Solo 2 compares to the new king of portable dry herb vaporizers. In this review, we’ll be breaking down and comparing the key specs and features to help you decide which vaporizer will be better for you based on your unique vaping habits.

Key Features Comparison – Mighty+ vs Solo 2

The Mighty+ has gained a reputation as being one of the easiest dry herb vapes to use, and one of the most enjoyable to use as well. With a very intuitive design including an LED screen, easy access bowl chamber, and easy-to-understand user interface, beginners and veterans alike have fallen in love with the design and top-of-the-line vapor quality. The Arizer Solo 2 is similar in respect to its reputation as a vaporizer with awesome vapor quality thanks to the unique cooling glass stem chamber design.

Another key feature of the Mighty+ is its dosing capsules which will enable users to load up to forty sessions by using a 40 dosing capsules pack and a Mighty filling aid. These can easily be brought along with you on the go to make chamber reloading a breeze. In comparison to the Solo 2’s integrated stem chamber, this will be much more efficient for heavy users, as you’ll have to knock out the chamber every single time on the Solo 2.

With the double super-boost feature, you can double or triple tap the power button to raise the heat by 27° F (15°C) or 54° F (30° C) for 90 seconds. This is a perfect option for sharing with a friend, or to close out a session and get the most THC extraction possible.

Mighty+ and Solo 2 heating review

The Arizer Solo 2 uses a hybrid heating system that relies on a hot ceramic coated heating chamber, and small air jets that will contribute to the heating of your dry herb. It mainly uses conduction though, and it will take some time for the heat of your dry herb to catch up to the oven’s temperature. On the other hand, the Mighty+ has a new and improved ceramic bowl over the titanium on the original. It uses conduction in the bowl and a convection airflow that is draw-activated helps to extract the most THC out of your cannabis on the portable vaporizer market.

While they have similar heat-up times of around 40-60 seconds based on the temperature, the Mighty+ is the clear winner for the category. On average, it will take the Solo 2 around 80 seconds to begin producing noticeable vapor as the glass slowly heats up to proper conduction temperatures. In comparison, the Mighty+ will begin producing noticeable vapor before its haptic feedback has let you know it reached the set temperature. This can be seen by the overflowing vapor coming out of the straw-style mouthpiece if you let it be while it is heating.

Portability of the Mighty+ Vaporizer vs Arizer Solo 2

Without the glass stem, the Solo 2 is about the same height as the Mighty+, but with a more narrow body. With the included glass stem from the kit, it will be much larger. Luckily it comes with an included belt clip-on carrying case for easier portability that comes with a slot for the glass stem.

The Mighty+ is definitely the bulkiest portable vaporizer, however, but will still manage to fit into most pockets. It weighs close to half a pound, and if you are carrying dosing capsules with you, you’ll want to keep them in a bag. For this reason, we often recommend picking up a Tools420 Vape Case to help with all of the accessories that customers will normally pick up for their device, such as a Mighty+ water pipe adapter and a 14mm globe whip bubbler.

Mighty Plus and Solo 2 Vapor Quality Comparison

In this category, the Mighty+ is the clean winner despite both having isolated air paths. With a larger 0.25g bowl over the 0.15g bowl on the Solo 2 in combination with the draw-activated convection system, you’ll be able to get much larger clouds using the Mighty+. Although the Solo 2 still offers some of the best vapor quality for a portable unit, it simply does not stand up to the Mighty+ power from two lithium-ion batteries and a larger bowl.

The main difference can also be seen in session times, as the Mighty+ has a superior conduction oven that will better roast your dry herb, and faster. For those looking for a more laid-back session, the Solo 2 might be the better option as your product won’t be roasted as much on standby.

Suitable Substances

The Arizer Solo 2 is made to only be used with dry herb. You can try the sandwich method by packing wax in between dry herb, but this won’t work the best and will gunk the heating chamber and glass screen up over time. Included in the Mighty+ kit will be a liquid mesh pad and dosing capsules. Both can be used for concentrate use and really boost the vape’s utility and will reduce the need for extra cleaning.

Battery life comparison

The Arizer Solo 2 has, and most likely always will be the king of battery life for portable dry herb vaporizers. Due to its efficient design and integrated 18650 battery, you’ll be able to get up to three hours of battery usage out of it. For most users, they will get at least 2 to 2.5 hours. Compared to the dual lithium-ion batteries on the Mighty+, you’ll get around an hour and a half of use before needing a recharge. One of the upgrades that come from its USB-C charging port is fast charging which can get a full charge in as little as 50 minutes. Although the Solo 2 has pass-through charging (use while charging) like the Mighty+, a full battery charge will take close to three hours, which does hinder it back compared to modern vapes.

How to use the Mighty+ vs Solo 2 comparison

To use the Solo 2, all you’ll have to do is load the glass stem chamber and turn the vape on by pressing the m and up buttons for five seconds. After that, it will automatically begin heating to the previously set temperature. When it reaches temperature, you can also choose to have a sound announcement. Once done, simply knock the old debris out of the glass chamber and load it in your next bowl whenever you’re ready for your next session.

For the Mighty+, all you’ll have to do is twist off the mouthpiece to access the chamber after filling between 0.25g and 0.3g, place the mouthpiece back on and press the power button. It will begin to heat up to the set temperature and be ready after haptic feedback. You may also choose to pick up additional dosing capsules and a filling aid to make loading your chamber a breeze, and pick up a capsule caddy keychain to take as many as five capsules with you on the go.

Ease of Use Review – Arizer Solo 2 vs Mighty Plus

Both vaporizers are very easy to use thanks to an LED screen and intuitive buttons. Both vaporizer screens are very easy to use and understand, and medicinal users will have no problems with the easy-to-use up and down arrows to set the temperatures. One of the biggest differences between the vapes is the learning curve of the Solo 2 to achieve the best vapor quality. Due to the glass screen holes, it will be limited to a coarse grind – If you choose to do a fine grind, you can use the metal screen, but a very fine grind will still be able to get through and travel up the glass stem and into your mouth. The bowl should be lightly stamped down and not overly packed so there is still a good airflow moving through the conduction oven. Some users also prefer a pre-heating period to allow the herb to get up to temperature for better hits. After a bit of practice, you’ll begin to get the awesome clouds you were hoping for. It just takes a bit of getting used to.

The Mighty+ is quite the opposite in terms of ease of use. Originally designed as a medicinal vaporizer, the bright LED screen, and bright orange buttons are extremely easy to figure out. Given the awesome hybrid oven and power moving through the unit, any kind of grind or bowl you load will be nearly fully extracted at the end of your session. You’ll also be able to use the superboost function to close out a session, as it will raise the chamber temperature by 15C or 30C after triple-clicking the On-Off button.

Something to mention is the use of dosing capsules on the Mighty+. If you were to pick up a 40 dosing capsule pack in combination with a dosing capsules filling set and capsule caddy, you’ll have access to super easy sessions on the go. With a battery block and the USB-C, fast recharging will also let you take the Mighty anywhere without hassle. In terms of accessories, you’ll have access to a long and short bubbler, and a 14mm bong adapter to use with any bong you own at home. We recommend also picking up a Tools420 Vape Case which comes with loads of compartments and storage room

For Solo 2 accessories, there is a glass stem bubbler or Solo 2 water pipe adapter to use with 14mm female bong ports. Although the charging will be limited to a wall plug in or a Solo 2 Car Charger, the 2.5 hour battery life should be more than enough to get your proper use in while on the go. With the included belt clip-on carrying case, there will also be some added portability for laid-back sessions while walking. In regards to a dosing capsule comparison, the chamber will be very easy to knock out the old material and reload. A four-piece grinder that you can jam the chamber into will do the trick just fine and quickly at that.

Solo 2 Tips and Tricks

Although the Solo 2 vape will heat up in less than 30 seconds to your desired temperature, you’ll find the first two hits won’t have much vapor. As the chamber itself requires a bit of time to heat your dry herb up, most veterans have found that it takes a whole minute for the vapor production to really kick in. If you’ve been struggling with getting clouds, try using a coarse grind on a high heat setting above 400F. After a minute, you’ll begin to notice the vapor beginning to pool up in the glass stem. As there is a bit of convection heating that runs through the chamber, the longer the pull, the more convection activation you’ll get. This works in harmony with a coarse grind or whole flower gently stamped into the chamber – You’ll get a lot easier draws with more vapor.

As most beginners will try a fine grind, they will either have it go into the stem or have minimal airflow because of using the fine metal screen. For this reason, some users have found success with the Arizer Extreme Q Dome Screen as a filter before the air holes.

Cleaning Comparison – Mighty Plus vs Solo 2

To clean the Mighty+, all you’ll really have to look out for is making sure to clean out the chamber to prevent unnecessary resin buildup. Once a month or so, you may want to soak your mouthpiece and other removable parts in isopropyl alcohol for half an hour before a hot water rinse-off. This will keep the air flowing optimally.

For the Solo 2, the most important cleaning with being on the glass stem as it is prone to yellowing and buildup on the screen. For this, you can use some alcohol q tips to keep things looking and working well. Knocking out the chamber after every use will also help to keep resin buildup to a minimum.

Warranty

In terms of warranty, you will get 2 Year Functionality / 1 Year Battery warranty on a Solo 2 vaporizer. For the Mighty+, you’ll get 2 years or  3 years if registered. Seeing how both vaporizers are well-trusted manufacturers, you’ll most likely have no problems for years to come.

Mighty Plus vs Arizer Solo 2 Review Conclusion

In conclusion, the Mighty+ is the king of portable vaporizers for a reason. Within a minute of turning it on, you’ll have vapor seriously spewing out of the cooling unit, just waiting to be inhaled. It is rugged, easy to use and understand, and will pack a punch with its THC extraction capabilities. The Solo 2 is a king in its own right, with a cult-like following that has fallen in love with the easy, cooled draws of the glass stem and intuitive design.

If you’re looking for a laid-back session while walking or at home, the Solo 2 is going to be the best choice for you. You’ll be able to have prolonged sessions that offer great vapor quality and have fun with the water pipe adapter and bong combos, or with the glass stem bubbler.

If you’re looking for a vaporizer that will do almost all of the work for you thanks to amazing engineering and manufacturing quality, then the Mighty+ will be for you. Although it’s on the bigger side, you can pick up accessories to boost its portability. Vapor clouds will be a breeze, and if you don’t plan on any more upgrades in the future, this is the right choice.
