XMAX Daboo Quartz Coil

If you’ve never heard of the term nectar collector, it’s a type of Concentrate Vaporizer that has the coil or atomizer on the opposite end of the mouthpiece. The Daboo uses a porous quartz atomizer that you can ‘collect’ your dab with before it’s melted, absorbed, and vaporized. There are three temperature settings to choose from. On the higher end, you won’t have much time to get your hits in, while the lowest setting will be a slow melt that will be better suited for relaxed-style sessions.

Is it Portable?

The Daboo is has an ergonomic shape that you’ll hold onto like you would a pencil. The majority of the size comes from the mouthpiece / bubbler which juts out above the body. When you’re not using the bubbler, you can just take it out, empty it, and put it back into its box. If you like to travel with your dabs and other vapes, you might want to consider picking a vape case to help you carry everything in one convenient place.

XMAX BADOO HOW TO USE

What concentrates can you use?

The coil is surprisingly hot so you’ll be able to melt any kind of concentrate, though I would recommend to not use too big of a glob or it will either just fall off or improperly melt and you’ll waste some of your product.

XMAX Daboo Vapor Quality

I found that even though there is a very clear difference in how fast your dab melts on the different voltage settings, the vapor always seemed to run on the hot side of things. The bubbler only fits a minimal amount of water and since the air path is a straight shoot from the atomizer, there’s very little heat transfer to the vape body & your throat takes a bit of a beating. The result though is a ton of vapor that’s super thick if you’re into massive clouds. Even on the low voltage, there wasn’t a whole lot of flavor, so, overall, I would say the Daboo is best suited for people purely looking for massive clouds from a nectar collector style wax pen. Between the draw activated mode and the on-demand preheat mode, I wasn’t able to really tell any difference in vapor quality since it heats up so quickly to its high temperatures.

XMAX Daboo Battery Life

With a 650mAh battery you’ll be able to get about a day’s worth of charge if you’re a heavy user, or up to a week if you’re a light user. With the USB-C charger, you’ll be back to a full charge in just over an hour. The Utillian 2 also uses a 650mAh battery and is an interesting comparison since they’re also the exact same price.

Lookah Seahorse Pro vs. XMAX Daboo

A common complain about the Lookah Seahorse Pro is that it’s sometimes fails to produce vapor on high temperature concentrates. I would say that the Daboo is the opposite where it’s literally supercharged and can scorch your throat if you’re not careful. The Daboo is cheaper, but the Lookah Seahorse does come with a whip which you can use on bubblers if you’re into cool setups.

Utillian 2 vs. XMAX Daboo

If you’re liking the specs of the XMAX, but are unsure about the whole nectar collecting element, then a more traditional wax pen like the Utillian 2 might be the better option. They are similarly priced, but the Utillian 2 uses a dual coil design that will be loaded with a traditional dab tool and will be a bit more beginner friendly than the Daboo!

How to use the XMAX Daboo?

The Daboo is a fairly simple wax pen to use as it has some standard one-button operations commands:

  1. To turn the Daboo on, press the power button three times
  2. Tapping the power button twice will cycle through the three voltage settings
  3. One button will run a pre-heated cycle
  4. Inhales will fire up the atomizer manually
  5. When you’re ready to vaporizer, just press the atomizer into your dabs and they will melt and vaporizer into the porous quartz material

When you’re filling the bubbler, just make sure to fill it slowly as it barely holds any water and van be a little tricky to fill to the ‘fill’ line.

How to Clean the XMAX Daboo?

I never really bothered to clean the atomizer as it seemed to burn off any excess concentrate. Unfortunately the white color of the atomizer is going to be quickly stained brown after your first use, but it doesn’t have any negative affect on flavor from my experience. As for the bubbler, save yourself some time by switching to Orange Chronic instead of isopropyl alcohol as it can bring your bubbler back to shining after just a few seconds of shaking.

Final thoughts

Overall, the Daboo is a straight forward wax pen that packs a huge punch despite its low price tag. People not even specifically looking for a nectar collector style vape pen might be interested in it because of the cool key features like the integrated bubbler, USB-C charging port, and massive clouds it’s able to somehow put out.

If you want to get even more creative with it, you can also fit the whip from the 14mm Mega Globe over the mouthpiece so that you can inhale from a comfortable distance while getting some additional water cooling.

Overall, I appreciate the simplistic design and modern features like USB-C charging, so I’d say I’d recommend it to dab enthusiasts looking to add a unique vape to their collection!

  • One last thing to consider if you want something similar is an E-Nail like the G Pen Hyer. Made to pair with a glass piece. It might be a little extra compared to the Daboo, but its performance is amazing.
