When it comes to dry herb vaporizers, the Dynavap and Firefly brands might not be the first that comes to mind. But, as you’ll learn in this informative article, they are actually quite similar by nature. While the Firefly 2+ vaporizer focuses on flavor and slow sessions, the Dynavap M Plus takes a one-hitter approach with the help of a torch or an induction heater.

If you’re currently an owner of one of these unique dry herb vaporizers, there is a reason you may want to learn about the other. While both work quite successfully in their individual roles, there is a lot to compare! One bowl of the Dynavap or one bowl of the Firefly – Let’s review them to help you make the right buying decision.

Firefly 2+ vs DynaVap Chamber Comparison

To begin, let’s just make it clear that the Dynavap is a battery-free vaporizer, and Its chamber will fill with a maximum of 0.15g on the M 2021 vape. It works with a cap that covers the chamber, which also works as a dual-function feature on the device – Not only will it protect your dry herb from direct heat contact like traditional combustion, but it is also engineered to make a clicking noise when it’s heated to 350F. This is a built-in feature that helps to keep regulate your product’s cloud production and gives users some customization of sessions. Whether they want to use their Dynavap torch or an induction heater, or the best way to heat a dynavap, it’s all in your hands – No pun intended.

For the Firefly 2+, it works with a convection-style bowl of a similar size to the Dynavap. With a top cover, all users will have to do is hold both sides of the sensors of the vape for a few seconds until the flashing green lights have turned solid. When that happens, you’ll begin your hits. It will work best with long and slow draws, as the hot air passing through your dry herb will maximize your THC extraction and terpene flavor. We found that upwards of fifteen-second gentle inhales work best.

How to use the Firefly 2+ vs Dynavap – Comparison

Here’s where the fun begins in the comparisons, as both require vapes require a learning curve and invested time to maximize session effectiveness and fun. Off the bat, the Dynavap is obviously better suited for fast, one-hit style sessions. With a good torch or induction heater, you’ll be able to get your first good cloud after only a few seconds. Depending on where the cap you choose to heat, the click will occur between 300-350F. The common consensus is that it’s best practice to rotate the chamber when using a torch, gently rocking it back in forth with your free hand. Beginners and medicinal users may not appreciate this, opting to use an induction heater instead. In public, torching can also be an awkward process as the metal and torch will look shady until you begin to inhale.

However, the big clouds and burst-style nature of the device make it a great choice for smokers making the swap to vaporizing. You’ll still be able to get harsh hits and have the same great joint feel in your hands with quick inhales that really make it fun to use. With airflow holes embedded on the body of the device, you’ll also be able to adjust airflow with your thumb. The body of the vape is contoured near the mouthpiece end, and really makes it feel like a joint to hold. For veterans, they love the rabbit hole style of challenge that the Dynavap presents. There are endless ways to achieve a great hit… Whether that be with a DynaVap water pipe adapter, DynaVap fat mouthpiece, or a globe vape bubbler, the possibilities are quite near endless. Some people have also have found success with concentrate using cotton swabs, but this obviously won’t be as effective as using a good wax pen.

Firefly Vs Dynavap

The Firefly 2+ vape takes the opposite approach, as sessions are made to last and maximize flavor output with an overall laid-back atmosphere of an enjoyable setting. As in our tests, the best clouds can come from inhales past 20 seconds long, you’ll have to be in a chilled out mood to get the most out of your cannabis and device. While the first hit will be ready in mere seconds, it will be close to a minute or longer before you’ll begin to get noticeable clouds.

As for temperature control, you’ll have access to an application or an on-device command to change the temperature. The app will just need to be turned on with both power buttons before being able to connect with Bluetooth technology. From there, you can adjust the Fahrenheit from 165F all the way up to 500F for concentrate mode. To adjust the temperature on the actual device, just hold the right power button and tap the left side three times. After that, while still holding on to the right button, you can tap the left side one time to set the temperature to a minimum, or six times to set it to a maximum (425F). Personally, the best clouds are a little below that temperature so you may want to use the app. As Apple has banned all cannabis software, you’ll have to use an Android device to have access to these settings.

Review: Firefly 2+ (Plus) vs DynaVap Vapor Quality

In my opinion, the Firefly 2+ does have the best vapor quality on the dry herb vaporizer market today. The airflow is not natural and while you won’t even get a visible cloud on lower heat settings, you’re going to really get to experience your cannabis’ taste fully for the first time. Especially if you are using a high-grade terp-based product like a limonene strain, you will fall in love with this vape if you are a terpene enthusiast.

In contrast, the Dynavap moves vapor very quickly. Your clouds will seriously shock yourself when you begin using them as a vaporizer for the first time. Despite having a small chamber, the DynaVap will allow you to have big clouds without combustion, and the cleanup will be minimal other than knocking out your last session before reloading.

DynaVap vs Firefly 2+ Sleekness Comparison

To put it bluntly, the Firefly 2+ looks like a garage door opener. With a combination of silver, glass, green, orange, and black, it’s not the most stylish vaporizer on the market, to say the least. As you’ll have to inhale for upwards of 10 seconds at the minimum for good clouds, it can look quite ridiculous to the uninformed – Almost like a breathalyzer! The green flashing lights will also not help any kind of discreetness while you’re using it in public. For this reason, we can highly recommend using the vaporizer in the comfort of your home, or in a relaxed setting like a concert.

The Dynavap, as discussed, feels much more comfortable to use in conjunction with an induction heater. Once you begin actually getting hits, the metal is actually quite stylish and people will be interested as to what you are hitting from.  You’ll easily be able to have a loaded cap in your pocket and even if you’re holding it in public, nobody will bat an eye at you.

Unique Features

As combustion of marijuana takes place around 430F, vaporizers help reduce the 111 chemical compounds found in cannabis smoke, down to just four in cannabis vapor. As only the essential oils are boiled off, this makes the high much more clean, as well as more health-conscious in the long-term as there will be much less tar and resin released from the cannabis. One of the nice things that veterans will like about both vaporizers is the learning curve that will take some getting used to before getting the most out of the vape.

The VapCap click is super unique and is a lot of fun to play around with. As well, the stainless steel on the vaporizer is damn-near indestructible. DynaVap has posted a video on their Instagram of dropping it out of a moving car, and then showing no damage and full usability.

On the other hand, the Firefly 2+ vapor quality is simply unmatched on the dry herb vaporizer market today. The clouds won’t compare to the DynaVap, or to that of a 3rd generation vape like the Zeus Arc GTS Hub, but it still holds a nice spot for terpene-loving veterans.

Conclusion

While both vaporizers may be considered slightly novelty and niche, there is a reason that the community loves them so much. The clear learning curve when it comes to mastering each vaporizer is a unique challenge that DynaVap fans especially have come to love.

While the DynaVap can be seen as more of a novelty tool due to its steep learning curve, so too can the Firefly 2+. They each hit niche markets as a torch-vaporizer, and a convection one based completely on maximizing flavor. Where the DynaVap is the perfect entry-level vaporizer to transition from combustion to vaporization, the Firefly vape is the perfect vaporizer for connoisseurs to perfect their vapor taste and quality with. Overall, we simply recommend skipping the line and getting the best of both worlds with a Mighty+ Vaporizer. This will offer hybrid heating and clouds much bigger than both vaporizers, and much more THC extraction as well.
