Should you buy the Flowermate Cap Pro?

The Flowermate Cap Pro is the newly released upgrade from the original Flowermate Cap / G Pen Dash which has been equipped with a wide variety of upgrades to make it competitive against other top budget vaporizers like the XMAX V3 Pro.

With the same quick 30-second heat-up time, this time with precise OLED temperature control and USB-C charging. The original models did have their faults though… Were the upgrades enough for us to suggest buying this more costly Portable Vaporizer? Read on to find out.

Glass-glazed stainless steel oven

The Flowermate Cap Pro uses a conduction oven that will operate between 148C – 230C / 298F-446F. It uses a unique oven material that’s made from glass-glazed stainless steel which is blue on its walls. While it relies mainly on conduction to get the job done, there are two large air intake ports. Due to the super-powerful heating capabilities, the air taken into the oven is going to be heated up very quickly so you’re going to get some convection THC extraction occurring that really ramps up the vapor production after a few minutes.

Flowermate Cap Pro portability

This is a super portable vaporizer that’s about the same size as a PAX Plus. It will fit into most pockets, and the magnet on the mouthpiece is decent enough to stay on while you’re out walking with it. If you plan on having a few sessions on the go though, the Stashlogix Vape Case will help you keep everything you need secure and in one convenient place.

Suitable Substances

As the conduction heating is rather strong in the glazed stainless steel oven, and the fact that it can reach a super hot temperature of 446 Fahrenheit means that you’ll be able to vaporizer concentrates in the oven. To do this properly, I’d advise using a screen at the bottom of the chamber so that any leftover residue gets caught on it and doesn’t fall into the heating element. After, you’re going to want to use a vape cleaning stick to clean resin off the top filter screen.

Vapor Quality

This is a hard-hitting portable dry herb vaporizer that will level you if you’re not careful. We found that it works best with a medium grind so that you don’t have to worry about a fine grind blocking the mouthpiece filter and obstructing airflow. You’ll get pretty big clouds if you’re at a higher temperature but I found that the terpenes never really were that great, even at low temperatures. Another annoying thing was that the Flowermate Cap Pro operates best on long and slow inhales, but after a few minutes, the mouthpiece gets quite hot to the touch and burns your lips. For me, that meant switching to shorter and stronger inhales to compensate which weren’t as effective.

Another thing that’s a bit of a downer is the lack of accessories. While you can probably get creative by putting a screen over your dry herb, removing the mouthpiece, and using the 14mm globe whip bubbler with a filter screen, the lack of official accessories means this is a pretty limited vape when it comes to session customization. In the entry-level dry herb vaporizer category, it’s outshined by the XMAX V3 Pro as you’ll have better vapor quality and a choice between five different mouthpieces to use. Plus, it’s much more compatible with vape bubblers and bongs, which is a lot of fun to mix and match once you get the hang of vaping.

Battery Life

Although Flowermate suggests that you’ll be able to get 18-20 sessions per charge from the 2000mAh proprietary battery, the real runtime you’ll get closer to is about ~45 minutes of uptime in reality, with each session auto-timing out after around five minutes. Once you get the device, you’ll want to run an initial charge which will take 2.5 hours and you’ll know when the charging process is done when the indicator stops flashing and turns solid with a full battery indicator.

On the Flowermate Cap Pro, you won’t have access to pass-through charging, as it runs the risk of damaging the device. As well, the manufacturer cautions against leaving the device charging overnight as it runs the risk of shortening the battery life. Also, try to only use the provided charging cable as the Cap Pro can be voltage-sensitive.

Flowermate Cap Pro Ease of Use Review

To use the Flowermate Cap Pro, you’ll first start by removing the magnetic mouthpiece and loading a medium grind into the 0.3g chamber. From there, replace the mouthpiece and tap either the up or down button five times in a row quickly to power the device on, which will cause a vibration and show the Flowermate logo. Once the vape is on, it will automatically begin heating to your last set temperature which it will reach in about thirty seconds with a vibration (haptic feedback) to let you know that it’s ready to be inhaled from.

Some things to know are that it’s pretty easy to accidentally turn the vape off by adjusting the temperature too quickly, so I’d just suggest holding the buttons down to change the temperature in intervals of 10 Celsius or Fahrenheit. As the temperature screen is always scrolling, it was a bit annoying for me so I often just held it so that the screen was on the far side to be less distracting. Another quirk I didn’t quite enjoy was the pure stink that the oven gives off. I’d say that it’s comparable to a PAX Plus in that regard. Although the design might be super discreet, it’s going to be a good idea to have a heavy-duty odor remover like a Beamer Cannabis Killer Candle nearby so that you can de-stinkify the room that you had your session in.

Flowermate Cap Pro Maintenance

Continuing the trend of other top portable dry herb vaporizers like the G Pen Elite 2, the Cap Pro uses a rubber gasket, fine screen, and zirconia mouthpiece insert inside of a plastic mouthpiece.

To clean, the first thing you’ll want to do is knock out any stubborn clumps of dry herb out of the chamber with the pick tool from the kit, and then follow that up with the plunger to get the majority of the job done. For anything finer that is still left over, you can use some isopropyl Q-Tips to wipe down any leftover residue. On the mouthpiece, you can remove the metal screen by pushing one end down and then pulling it out. An isopropyl alcohol wipe will get rid of any buildup, as well as on the ceramic spiral. As the kit comes with three mouthpiece screens, you can also just pop a new one in for a larger cleaning by throwing any screens and mouthpiece insert beside the rubber gasket into some isopropyl alcohol for ten minutes before a hot water rinse.

Warranty

With a massive two-hour warranty on a budget vaporizer, you’ll be covered against defects within the warranty period with either a repair or replacement unit.

Flowermate Cap Pro Review Conclusion

In conclusion, I’d happily suggest this to any beginners that are looking to make the switch to vaping from smoking. It has some nice modern features like a unique bowl, isolated air path, and USB-C charging all for just over $100. Overall though, I’d say that there are much better options on the market. In my opinion, the vapor quality is about the same, or even worse, than the G Pen Dash, except it costs even more.

For users quitting smoking, while the Cap Pro is a decent alternative, you’ll feel much more comfortable using a DynaVap M Plus due to its similarities to a joint, so be sure to check it out!
