We have reviewed a few vapes from the Grenco brand in the past, like the G Pen Elite – and we were fairly impressed. We think the G Pen line produces some superior vapes. The G Pen Nova LXE from Grenco Science is a pen-style vape designed for waxy concentrates but can also vape pre-filled cartridges thanks to 510-threading.

The original Nova vape pen was compatible with both concentrates and dry herbs but was lacking in the vaping herbs department. Grenco wised up and removed the option for dry herbs with the LXE. How does the LXE stack up to other budget wax pens and concentrate vapes? Keep reading and find out.

If you’re just getting your feet wet when it comes to wax pens, head on over to our handy Buyer’s Guide for all of the details you need!

Product Features:

  • Built-In Dab Tool
  • Solid Battery Life
  • 510 Threading

How Do I Use My G Pen Nova LXE?

Most budget wax pens are straightforward and easy to use, and the same holds true with the G Pen Nova LXE budget wax pen. Just unscrew the mouthpiece and load your concentrates. The built-in dab tool is handy, making it pretty easy to load your wax onto the atomizer. Replace the mouthpiece and hit the power button five times to turn it on. Once the device is on, pressing the button three times will toggle through the temperature settings.

Nova LXE Temperature Settings

The G Pen Nova LXE has three voltage settings – 3.2v, 3.6v, and 4.1v. There is also a mode that allows you to extend your draws if you like those big, thick inhales. We recommend vaping on the middle setting at 3.6v for most consumers. This setting will give you the best vapor quality and production with minimal harshness.

G Pen Nova LXE Vapor Quality

While the vapor quality and flavor on the G Pen Nova LXE is average, it is still pretty solid for a budget vaporizer. There is some decent airflow as well, which means you get some nicely sized clouds. The vapor path on the LXE is on the shorter side, so inhales on the highest setting can get pretty harsh.

We recommend that consumers to not load too much wax onto the atomizer, because smaller amounts taste better and help to minimize the harshness on your throat. This is especially true if you vape using oil cartridges, which have the possibility of burning if you aren’t careful enough.

Battery Life on the LXE Budget Wax Pen

The original Nova had a pretty weak 300mAh battery. The upgrades on the LXE Nova vape battery to 650mAh which is solid for a device this compact. Most consumers will get about 4 or 5 sessions on a single charge with the LXE. If you are looking for a wax pen that lasts longer, check out the Pulsar APX Wax Vaporizer

LXE Nova Vape Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality

The Nova vape LXE isn’t really much to look at, but it’s not presenting itself as the sexiest wax pen out there. The G Pen Nova LXE build quality is average and not much to write home about because it is a budget wax pen. However, it will last most consumers a decent amount of time if they take care of it. This budget wax pen smudges pretty easily and can get quite gummed up with oil if you don’t maintain your Nova vape LXE properly.

The fact that the LXE from G Pen can also vape cartridges with 510-threading is a nice additional option which we appreciated. The fact that the dab tool is made from stainless steel and not silicone was also a positive. There is only one ceramic coil atomizer, but that is par for the course when it comes to budget vaporizers. While the atomizer is relatively deep and can accommodate a good amount of wax, we recommend against loading it up too much, because that can restrict the airflow.

Manufacturing Quality and Build

Portability and Discreetness

Like all vape pens, the G Pen Nova LXE is highly portable and discreet. It is only four inches high so it is pretty concealable. No one will have any issue fitting this unit into their pockets. It also feels pretty nice in your hand. Taking smaller hits on the low setting will minimize cloud production and prevent any unwanted attention.

Portability and Size

G Pen Nova LXE Accessories

The LXE is a budget wax pen, so we wouldn’t expect it to come with a ton of accessories. The LXE comes with the unit itself, a Micro USB charging cable, and a mouthpiece. It also comes with a respectable 1-year warranty.

How to Clean the Nova LXE

The Nova LXE gets dirty pretty quickly and is susceptible to smudges. Although the buildup it accumulates is an improvement over the original Nova, concentrates can get caked on pretty quickly. You will want to try and clean the LXE while the device is still warm so you can remove the most gunk. Gently use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to remove residue.

If you want a handy isopropyl alcohol cleaning option, check out our pre-packaged vaporizer cleaning sticks from Tools420. Just crack one open and get to cleaning! Never dip your Q-Tips in alcohol again!

Bottom Line

The Nova LXE from Grenco Science is a budget vape that does its job. The vapor quality and production are decent and so is the airflow. The stainless steel dab tool is a solid addition and so is the fact that you can vape oil cartridges that use 510-threading.

Some consumers would prefer a better build and vapor quality and more options for atomizers. A pretty good comparison to the LXE would have to be the KandyPens Gravity wax pen.
