The Ghost MV1 Vaporizer offers robust, delicious vapor from both dry herbs and concentrates. A powerhouse with a durable build, many owners of the MV1 think this portable vaporizer offers rips that are almost comparable to desktop devices. In this Ghost MV1 review, we’ll let you know the good and the bad, what we thought of this device, and let you decide if it’s right for you.

  • As Ghost MV1 has been discontinued in late 2021, we’ve placed some comparable devices for you to consider throughout this review.

How to use the Ghost MV1?

The Ghost MV1 vaporizer is not the easiest device to use. It’s not impossible to get the hang of how to use the MV1, but there is a bit of a learning curve. Experienced vaporizer enthusiasts might enjoy learning how to use it from a YouTube video or through trial and error. However, the learning curve could possibly dissuade newbies who are in the market for something simple to operate.

To use the MV1, put your material in the crucible, press the power button until you see the LED lights, and then press the button again 3 times to turn the device on. After that, you select your temperature by holding the button down and then a single press to select your temperature. Once you’ve selected your temp, the firing button on the back needs to be pressed to heat up the vape, and it will vibrate when it’s ready to rip. Press the firing button again to inhale. This process is a bit complicated, and we didn’t even cover using the app, which allows you to customize how you vape.

Ghost MV1 Temperature Settings

The MV1 has a pretty fast heat up time from cold, about 30 seconds. And that decreases to about 10 seconds during sessions while warm. While the Ghost MV1 vaporizer does have the capability to use precision controls, that’s only available on the Smartphone app. Believe it or not, there are still people out there who don’t own Smartphones or don’t want to use one all the time. There are 4 present temperatures for dry herbs and only 1 for concentrates. Of course, you can customize that with the app and add the option for precision controls, but we don’t think users should have to do that. That’s one thing we didn’t like about the MV1, but it’s not a deal breaker. The temperature range of the MV1 vaporizer is 140° – 220° C. The sweet spot that we recommend for best performance of this device is right around 190 – 200 C.

Heating System and Chamber Size

The Ghost MV1 portable vaporizer uses truly pure convection heating, which is preferred by most people these days. Both the interior sleeve and the crucible of the MV1 are made from high quality ceramic, and both the heat sink and lid are constructed out of stainless steel. The glass mouthpiece is the only part that is virtually indestructible, but adds to the overall smoothness and flavorful extraction of your material. We recommend packing your MV1 fully, but not too much that it restricts airflow. This device has a chamber that can fit 0.12 grams of dry herbs. Most MV1 vaporizer owners get between 8 to 12 rips off of a packed crucible.

Ghost MV1 Heating System

One area that the MV1 really shines in is its capability to offer micro doses. Micro dosing is gaining popularity in the vaporizer world because people love taking small rips (less than 0.05 grams) throughout their day for the uplifting feeling, without that stereotypical couch lock effect. Because of the MV1’s innovative on/off heating feature, you can get that micro dose, one-hitter goodness with it. The feature ensures that your dry herbs or concentrates aren’t heated at all between tokes, which results in little to no waste and a pure, fresh, tasty hit when you go for your next one.

Ghost MV1 Vapor Quality

The flavor and smoothness of the vapor from the MV1 when using it with dry herbs is top-notch. You’d really be hard-pressed to find much better when it comes to portable vaporizers. Some users even say it comes close to desktop vaporizer quality. The vapor production is excellent as well, producing thick clouds even on the lower temperatures.

When it comes to the vapor quality of concentrates, it’s not the best. With the MV1, the cloud production from concentrates is fine, but the vapor quality is average. You’ll find much tastier and smoother concentrate vapor quality with a wax pen like the Puffco Plus

Ghost MV1 Battery Life

The Ghost MV1 vaporizer has a powerful 2600 mAh battery that is replaceable, for an additional fee. Most users get at least 75 rips off of a single charge, which is difficult to beat in today’s vaporizer game.

All of that battery life comes at a price, though. The MV1 takes quite a bit of time to fully charge, about 3 hours. This charging time can be reduced if you buy the fast charger accessory, which isn’t included. It was a bit puzzling to us as to why a high-end vape manufacturer wouldn’t just include the fast charger along with the device.

Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality:

The Ghost MV1 price is on the higher side, because this is a premium unit, and it shows in the manufacturing quality. This powerful vape is durable and built to last, using high quality medical-grade metal alloy. It’s on the bigger side for portable vaporizers, at 12.7 cm tall and weighing in at 340g.

The MV1 kind of looks like a black plastic water bottle for a bike, which we think is a pretty cool design, although many of our customers prefer the look of a more squared-shaped unit like the Zeus Arc GTS Hub.

Portability and Discreetness

As you probably have guessed by now, the MV1 is not very portable or discreet. This is not a unit you’re going to want to purchase if you’re looking to avoid drawing attention. It will fit easily into your backpack, but would probably be too big to fit comfortably in your pocket. It doesn’t exactly fit ergonomically in your hand, but it’s not uncomfortable. We recommend mostly using this device at home. Compact design and portability are not things you’ll get with the Ghost MV1 vaporizer.

  • If you want discreet, compact, ergonomic design, consider the PAX Plus.

Ghost MV1 Accessories

Out of the box, the Ghost MV1 comes with the unit itself, the proprietary battery, a concentrate pad, an extra crucible, a micro-USB cord, 3 picks, 3 alcohol wipes, 3 cotton swabs and a user’s manual. It also comes with a 2-year warranty, but you can upgrade that to 7 years if you register your MV1 on the Smartphone app.

In addition to the standard accessories, you can buy additional ones, such as the fast charger, spare battery pack, and crucible dispenser. If you do a Google search for Ghost MV1 Amazon, you’ll find these optional accessories at fair prices.

How to Clean the Ghost MV1?

Cleaning the Ghost MV1 vaporizer is complicated and involved, and quite possibly the worst part about this device. If you’re a vape user who prefers the cleaning of their vapes to be quick an easy, this device probably isn’t for you. The Zeus Purify Cleaning Kit can be helpful if you’re struggling to keep your MV1 clean.

Ghost mv1 Summary & Comparison

The Ghost MV1 vaporizer is perfect for home-based users that are looking to upgrade to a premium device for their dry herbs. It’s not for someone on the go that loves concentrates. Its innovative features, high quality dry herb vapor and rugged durability are its best features.

When it comes to the Ghost MV1 VS Mighty Plus, they are both large vaporizers that are best suited for home use. The Mighty doesn’t boast all of the innovative features that the MV1 does. However, the Mighty is easily cleaned and low maintenance, while the MV1 is most certainly not.
