Should you buy the Tronian Gammatron?

Tronian is expanding into different parts of the market, and the Tronian Gammatron is their newest release, their first Dab Pen.

Aiming to directly compete with the Puffco Plus, it has a lot of high-quality parts including a fully ceramic mouthpiece and dab tool to ensure vapor quality and ultimate easy sessions.

Are the Gammatron’s premium features enough to justify the price tag though? Read on and find out as we go over all of its details!

Large Kanthal Coil

The single piece of twisted kanthal coil is quite durable and strong and pairs very well with the ceramic mouthpiece for good vapor quality. I didn’t find too much difference between the voltage settings as the clouds were always pretty bland in flavor but got bigger as I increased the voltages.

One of the great things is that the coil is basically able to clean itself, and after my extensive testing, the coil basically looks brand new and is still performing as well as new.

Tronian Gammatron Vapor Quality

As I said the Gammatron does a great job of producing consistently big clouds, so cloud chasers will like this one. Because of the exposed coil, it won’t have the best flavor compared to a ceramic bucket chamber on the Carta 2, but it was still pretty good. For a boost to vapor quality, you’ll also be able to use the Utillian Universal Bubbler to help cool down max voltage clouds.

I found that pulsing the temperature and letting the cloud pool up in the chamber worked very well for preserving more flavor.

One thing to note is that you need to take slow and long inhales as the small air intake holes won’t allow tons of airflow if you try to take a big hit all at once.

If you do prefer more airflow, you might like the Utillian 5 instead.

Tronian Gammatron Strong Extraction

The extraction is decent but I found my concentrates were melting down below the coil and pooling, which means that even if there is nothing in the chamber, the Gammatron was still pumping out vapor from the leftover residue.

To help this, you can use the dab tool to have your concentrates slowly drip onto the coils for a more even dab extraction.

As I mentioned earlier though, the coil overall looked brand new and I have high hopes for its longevity, so this could be a good option for people looking for a money-efficient wax pen.

So far it has worked well with all kinds of concentrates I’ve tested including hash rosin, crumble, and shatter but I found that hard concentrates that need to melt down a bit worked best.

Is the Tronian Gammatron portable?

Coming in at about 6in tall, it’s not the most pocketable, but it works well with a Tools420 Vape Case to help boost portability. The dab tool does help on the go sessions though as you can just scoop up some dab from the integrated storage container and then put the pen back into your pocket once you’re finished.

With 800mah of battery life, it’s enough to compete with the Best Wax Pens, which is also helped by the USB-C charging which is a huge step up from the outdated and limiting micro-USB on other dab pens.

Excellent Build Quality

In terms of build quality, this is a nice step-up compared to the rest of the market. The dab tool sits well and allows for a slow drip for people seeking a more chill type of session, and the USB-C charging port and dab container are also super great modern features to have.

Utillian 5 vs. Tronian Gammatron

For this comparison, the Utillian 5 has a bigger coil that also operates at higher temperatures. To be honest, I like to say that the Utillian 5 tends to ‘nuke’ your concentrates and almost requires its Utillian 5 Bubbler for any semblance of a cooled inhale.

In contrast, the Gammatron is super reliable and it’s easier to not cough after every session. The integrated dab tool was also better designed so that you’ll never have to worry about crashing it onto the coils and breaking it on the coils.

Dr. Dabber Stella vs. Tronian Gammatron

The Dr. Dabber Stella is hard to beat in terms of manufacturing quality. With a high-quality ceramic bucket atomizer and excellent airflow and barely any metal in the airpath. The flavors of your dab will shine better, but it does struggle to produce clouds that can compare to the Gammatron.

The Gammatron wins in terms of ease of use and cloud production though, it just won’t have as good of flavor.

How to use the Gammatron?

The Tronian Gammatron is very user-friendly, which is one of its shining points. It’s hard to screw up anything because the heating only lasts 10 seconds at a time and the voltages will never be too cold or too hot, meaning it does most of the work for you. Let’s take a look at its simple commands:

• Five clicks turn the device on
• Two clicks cycles through the voltages (2.7 Volts, 3.0V,  3.3V)
• Press and hold to fire the atomizer for up to ten seconds at a time

You can load manually or with the dab tool on the mouthpiece, and then just press and hold the power button. If you want a bigger hit, just pulse the heat a few times before going in for your inhale.

Aside from that, almost everything ‘clicks’ into place with either O-Rings or cutouts, so as mentioned, it’s hard to accidentally do anything wrong.

How to clean the Gammatron?

Because of the premium materials on the Gammatron, everything is super easy to clean. Because there are O-ring connections, I would suggest using the Zeus Purify Kit which uses ethyl alcohol and will be easier on the rubber in the long run. When the body gets dirty or you get residue in the chamber, you can use vape cleaning wipes for small debris buildups.

I’ll give the Gammatron some props here as the mouthpiece doesn’t have any nooks or crannies that are annoying to clean the residue out of.

Good for people that want a unique dab pen that has the ultimate durability and simplicity. Your atomizers are going to last longer than competitor models and if you use the dab storage container, you can bring the pen with you anywhere for an easy session.

Who’s it not for?

It’s costly and hardly portable compared to other pens. At its price point, some people might consider just upgrading to a Cheap Electric Dab Rig like the XMAX Qomo.

Overall though, this is a super consistent and easy-to-use dab pen that’s able to pump out big clouds without ever burning your concentrates thanks to the low session timer and voltage calibrations.

While it’s not a Dab Pen under $100, it’ll allow you to have consistent sessions while you’re on the go, and I enjoyed the straightforward design.
