Review: XMAX V3 Pro Key Features
Despite the low price point, the XMAX V3 Pro is seriously jam-packed with up-to-date features that make it really swing above its weight class. It has an aluminum body and an LED screen similar to the Arizer ArGo, and you’ll have access to a magnetic mouthpiece, accurate temperature control, and an easy-to-use interface.
Convection Heating System
As convection vaporizers generally have a nicer vapor flavor due to less roasting of your dry herb when standing by compared to conduction, the XMAX V3 Pro is comparable to much more expensive vaporizers like the TinyMight or Xlux Roffu. For connoisseurs, they will really appreciate the on-demand aspect to get a lot of terpene profiles in their hits, especially if vaping terpenes is important to you. Lastly, one of the coolest unique features is the integrated stir stool on the detachable mouthpiece. Because it’s long and narrow section, you’ll be able to use as a pick to stir your fully-loaded chambers to get the most THC extraction out of your dry herb.
XMAX V3 Pro Session Mode
With a unique pure convection oven and precision temperature control, the V3 Pro is a very unique device for the market for its low price. Users can choose between 100C-220C (212F- 428F) with heating in as little as 15-20 seconds. Considered a ‘dual-use’, or ‘2-in-1’ dry herb vape, it can be used for concentrate and dry herb, but also for on-demand heating or session heating (always on convection). In session mode, the convection heating will always be on and will heat your dry herb continually in as little as 15 seconds, depending on your set temperature and battery charge level. This mode will work better for saving the battery or for fully clearing the bowl.
XMAX V3 Pro On-Demand Mode
For the on-demand mode, the heating will last up to 30 seconds once activated, which is done by holding the power button down. The first few hits on this mode won’t be as strong, as the first 30-second auto-off timer won’t allow your dry herb to get fully heated for a long-lasting hit, but you can just turn it right back on again. Overall, the heat-up time combined with convection is super worth it if you’ve been looking for a new portable side piece with good vapor quality.
V3 Pro Vape Portability
The XMAX V3 Pro is super portable and discreet thanks to the matte black aluminum design. Most people will think you’re just hitting a nicotine vape, and thanks to the convection heating, the vapor simply smells a bit like toast unlike the dankness emitted while using the Pax 3 Vaporizer. It’s about 6 inches tall, and one in around on the body, so it will be able to fit into most pockets with ease. With the recent release of the XMAX V3 Pro Dry Herb Dosing Capsules, you’ll be able to carry up to five preloaded sessions with you on the go

XMAX V3 Pro Wax Cup
With the included wax canister, you’ll be able to vaporize your favorite concentrates in this two-in-one vape. For this purpose, we recommend using the highest temperature of 428F / 220C and waiting a little bit longer than you would on a pen for the canister to heat up while in session mode. It’s also a good idea to pick up a spare XMAX Wax Cup, as they gunk up pretty quickly.
Using the Wax Cup with leaky Carts
If you have a damaged 510-thread cartridge that is leaking out the bottom, you’ll be able to place it atop the V3 Pro’s wax cup to have it slowly leak down into it. After a few days, I just vape it in the XMAX. Not sure if it’s the most efficient, but definitely a nifty little trick since I can’t take the lid off, and don’t want to break it open with a hammer!
XMAX V3 Pro Dry Herb Dosing Capsules
With the recent release of the XMAX V3 Pro Dry Herb Dosing Capsules, you’ll be able to preload up to five sessions at a time for an easy boost to your vaporizer’s portability. While they slightly restrict the amazing airflow that you’ll have without them, they will still work well to keep your chamber clean and make reloading a breeze. Our personal tip to help boost vapor quality while using the herb capsules is to run the temperature about 20 Fahrenheit higher than normal to help the stainless steel heat up. If you’re more of a heavy user, you might also consider picking up a Vape Case so that you can take your capsules and different mouthpieces in one convenient spot.
XMAX V3 Vapor Quality
As mentioned, the convection-based vapor quality is super high. The only real drawback of the short air path between the chamber and the mouthpiece is that the vapor tends to get very hot. Because of this, we found that using long and slow draws of 20 seconds or more in combination with 20 Celsius below your normal temperatures, allowed for the best vapor quality. Anything higher than that, and the vapor gets too hot to be enjoyable.
XMAX V3 Pro ABV / Extraction
Compared to most other budget vaporizers, the XMAX V3 Pro is incredible. You’ll be able to clear its bowl in under five minutes without even trying and your ABV will always be a dark brown meaning you’ve extracted almost 100% of your cannabis THC. This is a nice thing for heavy users to know as it means maximum efficiency. Below is a shot comparing a cleared Solo 2 bowl and V3 Pro bowl.
XMAX V3 Pro Battery Life
The XMAX V3 Pro comes equipped with a 18650 2600mAh battery that can easily be accessed and swapped. From our experiences, the on-demand mode was harder on the battery than the session mode. While we were able to get about six or seven sessions with the always-on session mode, the on-demand was around four, and even then, the vaporizer slightly struggled with the load of constantly being turned on and off, especially on higher temperatures. This is made even worse by the fact the heat-up time is worse when the battery is low. Another nice feature is the USB-C charging port that will allow more accessible and faster charging with a battery pack with a purchased separately additional battery. On average, our charge times were around the two-hour mark. Although you can use the vape while it’s charging above 30% capacity, it’s not true pass-through charging as it will still be draining the battery.
Manufacturing Quality
Like the Boundless Vexil, the body of the vape is made from solid aluminum that has a nice and sturdy feel in the hand. The LED screen and buttons are easy to use and understand and will display all the information you’ll need like the temperature, session timer, and battery level. The stainless steel and ceramic mouthpiece insert vapor airpath are also high-quality compared to the aluminum found on similarly affordable vaporizers. As well as this, the mouthpiece parts are easily detachable for easy cleaning.
How to Use The XMAX v3 Pro?
In terms of buttons, there is a power, up, and down button.
- To begin, all you’ll have to do is remove the magnetic mouthpiece and load in your medium grind into the 0.25g chamber. After, reseal and turn the vape on.
- To power the vape on, just press the power button three times.
- From there, it will automatically begin heating to your last session’s temperature as set by the up and down arrows.
- To change between session and on-demand mode, all you’ll have to do is press the up and down arrows for two seconds.
- Haptic feedback will let you know when your temperature has been reached. Automatically, once powered on, the V3 Pro will be in on-demand mode.

We like to stamp the chamber down with our pinky
If you’ve overpacked and the airflow begins to diminish, you can use the long end of the mouthpiece as a stirring tool to mix up your dry herb. The normal auto-off timer in session mode will be set to four minutes, but you can change this to six minutes by holding the power button and up buttons for two seconds. This is a bit annoying especially since convection ovens take a bit longer to fully cook your cannabis, but you can just restart the power once it goes out. Similar to this feature, you’ll also be able to change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit by holding the power button and down arrow for two seconds. Once you’re done with your session, you can use the mouthpiece pick tool to knock out the chamber!
Best XMAX V3 Pro Tips and Tricks
Similar to the Firefly 2 Plus, the convection power of the XMAX V3 Pro will work best with long and steady draws to get the hottest air running through the chamber as possible. You’ll be able to purchase separately a glass stem mouthpiece, or a water pipe adapter to boost the vapor quality as well. When using the on-demand session mode, you’ll have to be aware of the 30-second timer window you’ll have to get your hit in. As the battery power gets lower, the heater won’t be able to keep up with the auto-off timer, so you’ll have to do two rounds to get a good hit in when beginning from cold.
XMAX V3 Pro Water Cooling
If you pick up the XMAX V3 Pro Glass WPA, we had the most success using our 14mm globe bubbler with its included whip attachment. It really cranked the vapor quality through the roof and the draw resistance was super satisfying with enjoyable clouds. On that note, we found the best temperature to be a cool 185C / 365F, utilizing long draws.
XMAX V3 Pro Swappable Battery
As the included 2600mAh battery doesn’t seem to be the best, we recommend picking up a DaVinci IQ2/IQC Battery to be able to get more battery life and faster heat-up times. At the very least, you’ll want to have a second battery to swap if you run out of juice on the go. A battery charging pack will also help you to keep one charging while you have one in the vaporizer.
Long and slow inhales
Compared to a premium device like the hybrid Mighty+, longer draws will get more hot air flowing evenly through your chamber, but also won’t burn your throat in any way using the Mighty. Make sure to also pick up some dry herb dosing capsules if you’re a fan of keeping your chamber clean. Just know that they’ll slightly increase the draw restriction of the unit making it slightly harder to inhale from.
Choice of mouthpieces
With the XMAX V3 Pro, you’ll have a total of five different mouthpieces to choose from. These include the standard mouthpiece, glass stem mouthpiece, glass bubbler, glass water pipe adapter, and silicone bong adapter. This amount of customization is unheard of, especially for a portable budget vaporizer.
XMAX V3 Pro maintenance
It’s always a good idea to run a cleaning cycle on a new device. You can do this by giving everything a quick wipe with vape cleaning wipes, and then running a max temperature session for the full four to six-minute cycle in session mode. This will ensure that there is no leftover manufacturer contamination left on the device. Once you get your vaporizer up and running, it’s best practice to knock out your AVB (Already Vaped Bud) after every session to prevent unnecessary resin buildup. A nice part of the Pro’s kit is that it comes with some included alcohol wipes and Q-Tips. After sessions, you can do easy maintenance by knocking the chamber out with the mouthpiece, and then using a cleaning stick to wipe off any buildups.
How to clean the XMAX V3 Pro?
About once a month, it is a good practice to give your device a more thorough cleaning. The iso alcohol will get rid of any buildups, and hot water will also help aid the fight if it doesn’t come off immediately. If you notice your device’s airflow is less than normal, you can also fully disassemble the mouthpiece and soak the inserts in a 70-90% isopropyl alcohol bath for 30 minutes before a gentle scrub and hot water rinse. After any kind of cleaning, let everything fully dry before beginning to use your vaporizer to prevent any unnecessary damage by water leaking into the chamber.

XMAX V3 Pro Reddit Consensus
If you’re not taking our word for it, check out this quote from @SpaceTimeBurrito from this thread “- Seriously the best vape I’ve ever had. Only $109, rips like a motherfucker, on-demand mode, and a removable fucking battery!!! No more “fuck, I have to wait 30 minutes for a charge”

XMAX / TopGreen Manufacturer Reputation
XMAX has been steadily growing in popularity in recent years with very solid vaporizer releases like the V3 Pro and XMAX Qomo E-Rig. They are active on community forums, have excellent customer service, and are always working to improve and release new accessories for their vapes. For this reason, we love working with them and can gladly recommend them as a top vape manufacturer. If you’re still on the fence, hopefully this was the last nudge you needed!
XMAX V3 Pro Review Conclusion
As you’ve learned in this review, the XMAX V3 Pro has a lot of unique features for its affordability as an on-demand portable convection vaporizer. Besides the main selling points, the swappable 18650 battery, USB-C charging port, session modes, and wax canister are all great accessories that make this dry herb vape really swing above its weight class. Connoisseurs will appreciate the convection oven’s vapor quality, and beginners will appreciate the ease of use thanks to the buttons and LED screen display. The on-demand mode will be a great asset for micro-dosers, and veterans will love using a bubbler at high temperatures for huge clouds that still have good taste! The only slight criticism we can think of for this great device is similar to complaints that we have heard from customers about their firefly vapes; that long inhales can be a bit harsher for medicinal patients, or annoying for those looking for fast sessions. For these people, we can recommend a draw-assisted whip in the Arizer Extreme Q or XQ2 Desktop Vaporizer for medicinal patients, or a DynaVap for those interested in a one-hitter vaporizer style. We hope you enjoyed our review and learning about one of the best portable convection vaporizers on the market.
